1983..Lechien won his first nat there.

I raced there many times, before they put the HILL in. Did a couple of GNC Finals on minis and B class. Start was a killer..concrete and short. Bowyer did a nice write up on that a while back. Balls out!

Doubt they will get another National now.

Whitney would be a great track for a national. There's another in TX up by San Antonino called Cycle Ranch that is a national caliber track.

CR used to hold the 4 stroke nationals but from what folks have said the parking area would be an issue if they held a national these days... but man the track is awesome!!!

The four stroke nationals is what we went to Cycle Ranch for.

I have been to a lot of race tracks all over the country and Cycle Ranch is one of the best.

There was no "running" for the Texas national. It was bought directly from another promoter who already had the race. Since people were tired of Troy and Texas kind of fit a need to expand the series the deal was allowed.

shawn, i thought Colorado promoter bought up Troys slot?

And I thought the texas round was because they killed Boome to open up a slot for a southern race, and Miller got it. That was my understanding.
