I have a flight to Carlsbad tomorrow through Friday. Which track would be best to check out Thurs?

If you’re in Carlsbad, Pala is easy.

Thanks to both. I've been to GH a few times. Rode the Vet World in 2012. Have never been to Pala, but it is a lot closer to Carlsbad. I'll probably be dragging the other pilot with me, so he would probably be more interested in half the drive.

Or, walk two blocks West x Northwest to the corner of S. Melrose Dr. and Lionshead Ave so you can watch the ghosts of the USGPs race on what was once the great Carlsbad Raceway.

(Seriously, it's worth checking out if you are the sentimental type. I know I am.)

I am sentimental as well. I looked forward to the USGP on TV every year. I'll fly over Carlsbad Raceway on short final.

A few years ago I was in SoCal on a trip, and the guy I was flying with grew up in Camarillo, and raced out there. We went and found Saddleback and were poking around the fence, and a Sherriff's Deputy showed up to see what we were doing. He had no idea about the track. We were thinking about trying to walk the old track until he mentioned that there were rattlesnakes as big as your arm out there.
