My dad told me never to ride into the back of the truck so when I started driving myself I started riding up. I would guess somewhere between 500 and 1000 times I've done that and never been that guy.

I USED to be that guy.

All it took was one loss of control riding up into the truck at a race with probably a hundred people watching.

That was really embarrassing, enough to undo all the "looking cool" I did when I didn't crash it off of the truck.

Most amazing skill loading a bike I saw was a expert rider using a short little 3 ft 2x4. He leaned that little 2x4 against his tailgate,,at a steep 60-75 degree angle...nearly vertical. He rode towards it on his KX250(2stroke),popped clutch to loft front into bed, as his back tire kissed the 2x4 he goosed it and shot up in air spitting the 2x4 on ground. Simultaneously pushing front back down and grabbing front brake and clutch again... he landed preciously where he needed. He shut it off and hooked the tie straps. He got off and flipped gate shut tossed the little 2x4 in and was done. BALLS and skill!!!
I was awestruck at what he just did...but others said no big deal he does it this way each week..wish I had a video of it..

I did the opposite when I was a teenager. Thought I would be a badass and jump my bike out of the bed. Got to the edge and popped the clutch, ended up spinning on the plastic bedliner and endo’d right off the fuckin’ tailgate. Handlebars knocked the wind out of me, so I just laid there unable to breathe and unable to tell any of my buddies that I couldn’t breathe, so they just stood there laughing while I stared helplessly/angrily at them and thought “I’m gonna kill you and you and you and you” just as soon as I can breathe again. Laughing

I'll give credit where it was do...Shane McMillan owner of Kozmic Signs of Butler PA performed that amazing wheelie & bounce into his bed with 3 ft 2x4.

Feat was more amazing than all the triples he jumped at Switchback that evening.

I ride my bike up a ramp most of the time. Never did that exact feat, but did ride it up a wet plastic ramp and have the front wheel slide out and run into the inside of my boxside causing me to fall backwards. One person at a gas station across the street witnessed it. I had hurt feelings as well as road rash to go along with that.

When your old like this (which I am) anytime you can load and unload the bike out of a truck without having to do that bend your knee at the tailgate is a welcome (some are just damn fraid of that cattle guard ramp too so take that out of the equation). He had them both covered.
