Which factory rider moves down to satelitte level

Edited Date/Time 2/12/2016 7:40pm
Now before anyone starts bagging riders this thread isn't intended for that.

Just seeing what everyone's opinions are with which factory riders will be forced to step down to satellite/non factory riders next year?

I think that Wilson and Hahn will be forced to non factory teams next year

I dont think it's any gravy train any of those guys are on. Can't be an easy life. Dean Wilson is the first that comes to mind.

Wilson, Hahn, even (gasp) Canard could see a demotion of sorts.

More importantly, who are some satellite guys that have earned a factory gig?

I could see Wilson doing well somewhere like bto. Good bike, bit more lowkey atmosphere. I don't see him as a failure just yet, he's a heat race winner this year. That's no joke.

I'd say hahns on the bubble, along with tickle, bogle and maybe peick but not sure wen his deals up. There's not many guys in the class currently demanding an upgrade to a factory ride and really only Webb and Martin that demand instant top tier rides/money next year when they move up

i dont think honda will drop trey, he seems like too much of a "brand ambassador" type guy, just bad luck.

Yes I can see canard or barcia being some of the big guys to have to do it first.

To me Weimer is the next guy to go back to factory team

I could see Wilson going to BTO, it at least seems like a decent fit.

Pieck needs to step it up as JGR expect results for their investment

I dont think Barcia would be out of a ride before some of those other guys. He's normally pretty healthy and he was one of the 4? guys to win a national last year and he did it twice. He's not done yet

What if yosh picked up Roczen
If Stewart is still there I can't see it happening. James hasn't ever had a teammate that could beat him. I feel like its for a reason but that's just my opinion.

Aren't Tickle and Peick already on satellite teams? I think Baggett and Canard are the next full factory guys that will be looking for new teams. I also think that a change might be a good thing for Trey.

No way canard gets a demotion or whatever. He may or may not be on Honda, but no matter what he will be on a factory team. Trey wouldn't last 15 minutes on the market. He'd have offers pouring in. He's still a good 5 guy.

Honest question. I did a quick Google and didn't find an answer. When's the last time he completed a season?

Tell Chad Reed that.

Going based on the Vault, here are his finishes. I didn't dig into the MX seasons but I believe he finished both of those seasons. It's been awhile since he finished an SX season.

Despite missing races, He's still top 10 most of the time. And his MX performance is not bad at all when he competes.

2014 MX he finished 3rd.
2013 MX he finished 4th.
2013 SX he finished 6th.Missed one race but finished 18th or 19th three times.
2015 SX he finished 6th. Missed last 6 rounds

Different scenarios altogether. There's no way that Reed's talent kept the phones from ringing. And I believe he had offers, but none that he felt were fair compensation. RCH is coming to my mind.

I consider RCH and JGR factory rigs since they are both factory backed and the factory outfit for both brands is really thin/ almost non existent.

I agree that the circumstances were different. My point is that it doesn't seem like full factory rides are a dime a dozen right now.

RCH and JGR are both solid teams. They get factory equipment and seem to make it work well. I still believe that going to either of those teams from Honda, Kawi or KTM is a downgrade.

Canard might have to drop down from the HRC ride, depending on how much money he wants. Because he/the agent will notice that Honda wont pay anywhere near to him what they do now. Im sure that Honda pays him up to 7 figures, im not sure that they are willing to do that in the future when it is pretty clear that he wont deliver a 450 title for them.

I could see Canard fitting in at BTO to fill Short's spot.

Any decent rumors on what bikes JGR and RCH might end up on if they do switch?
