Hey,
Im looking for a 250f, but dont know what years to start to look at?
What I mean is there are yzf and crf 250s out there around 04-05 for about 1500 but then there are 08+ for 2500+.
Ive been searching the internet for the past two weeks trying to find some info but I would like some experience from actual riders knowledge. What would be the benefits or cons of getting an 04 over a newer one? Obviously its older and may need a rebuild but so would a 2008? I mean will it be worth my savings to get something newer if theyre both going to need work anyway?
Or any bikes that you would recommend looking at, as in years too?
Thanks!

What is involved in the rebuild of a 2T vs a 4T?
Really hard to get a strait answer
About 250f's without the conversation
Turning to 2 strokes
Or a 2t vs 4t thing
I already have a 250 2t
And want a 250f
Can't afford a newer 1
And wonder how far back in age is
Still decent
But have yet to get a strait answer
From people who have had them
And been through all the changes and evolution
.. I also wonder if a non efi bike can still be decent since the price difference is so big
Of course I wish I could afford an efi bike.
Basically a 2T is about 2-300
A 4T is about 1400-2500 depending on what you can and can’t do yourself.
Make sense?
No matter what the owner says, make your decision based on how the bike looks and sounds. If it looks ratty, it is ratty. A well maintained bike (2T or 4T) will look nice & not make any foreign noises. Most racers keep their machines in good condition. Do not be afraid to buy a racers bike if it meets the above qualifications.
I would look for a fuel injected bike if your going four stroke.
GL with your search...
Is EFI more reliable? I understand maintenance is key to reliability but what Im gathering from this thread is that buying as new as possible is best?
What is wrong with those years?
I know what you mean Tarz483, sometimes the answers can be biased. However I am willing to listen, get as much knowledge as possible and then make a decision on what is best for myself.
Cheers guys!
