Hey guys the choices of bikes for me right now are either a 09 kx450f rebuild with 9 hours, a 07 crf450r rebuild with 10 hours, 07 kx450f rebuilt with 4 hours, or an 05 crf450r. Please guys don't tell me to pick a color, I really don't know what color I want cuz I'm both a honda fan and kawasaki fan. It all comes down to reliability for me. Which bike will last?? I both trail ride and track ride. If you have experience with any of these bikes please give me some input of how reliable they have been for you.

I had an 09 kxf 450. The thing was a rocket. I'd pick it simply because it's at least 2 years newer than anything else in that list.

Edit: Just noticed the 09's hours is just the hours since it's rebuilt...

Was the fuel injection reliable for you? I know I heard problems with 09 crf's fuel injection but never heard anything about kawi's. and how we're the valves?

I had both an 05 and 07 crf450. They are hands down the best and most reliable bikes I ever rode. The 07 had smoother power and handled a tad better. Both were bone stock that I had. But I'd pick the 07. Hope that helps!

Just steal a new one. A lot of americans are doing that these days, it's the cool thing. Added bonus: Cops don't care and you got a new bike to trash....ditch it in a pond after you rag it out and steal another one.

07 CRF. It could depend on how good of condition the other bikes are in, I'd pick whichever has had the best care taken of it between the 07 Honda and the 09 Kawi. I had both bikes and both were good, if they're in equal shape I'd give the reliability nod to the Honda.

If you're good on air filter maintenance, you'll never have to worry about valves. I only had my 07 Honda for a year, and the 09 Kawi for 2, now my '10 Honda going on 3 years, and I've yet to adjust a valve on any 450 I've had.

X2 two on the valves. Had both bikes for over two years from new. Never had to touch em. I rode the dog piss out of that 05.

The CRF is going to be the best choice. The 07 Honda was a really good year with lots of power. The green machines have always had problems with lasting. Kawas breakdown and are heavy bikes. They don't tend to turn and are have point and shoot charactistic.

That's the kawi

That's the honda.. Both well taken care of, that's why I'm stumped. And yes the kawi has no chain on it, it needs a new one

One thing to consider is who performed the rebuilds. Backyard doofus or a reputable engine builder . Based on the pics the Kawi looked the best to me, but pics don't always tell the whole story

Yeah I can ask the sellers who rebuilt them. The kawi is a little cleaner, and it has fi. I wanna lean towards it but I'm not sure. I've never ridden either bikes so I don't know what to think

I would go for Honda reliability, turns much better than the Kawasaki as well .... I agree with the posters above, a clean bike does not mean a well maintained bike or rebuilt, etc and I dont think the picture does the Honda much justice, its not that bad from what I can see.

Yea older green plastic always looks better than older red plastic..... When I sold my 05 I slapped new plastic on it and it looked mint! And it was ridden really hard. Def find out who did the engines. Either way you'll be having some fun! Haha

Absolutely no issues, i even had the kxf programmer to muck around with, the logging on it was cool. The "sand" profile was bezerk. I liked the toned-down mapping.

I had no mechanical issues in the 3+ years i had it, only changed oil and filter regularly, valves never moved, never had to pul the head off in it's life that i had it.

I wouldn't buy any one of them. You're just buying some other person's junk. You didn't mention prices on those bikes, but keep 2 grand in the bank for when you get your surprise, after you get one of them. The most I would pay for any one of them, if they appeared to be in good condition would be 1K.
