my list:

KTM/Kawi - about equal, maybe the nod goes to Kawi...both companies seem to be making bike changes constantly
Honda - pretty good I guess.
Yamaha - good when they did the new reverse engine thing...kinda stale these days it seems
Suzuki - do they even have a marketing dept?

FOX. You see Fox everywhere you go and most of the people have no idea it started as a MX company

Monster and Rockstar, any company that can have other companies sell a product that has zero to do with their(M&R) product line but with their(M&R) logos plastered all over it for a premium price of which they(M&R) get a chunk and then have the customer use that product to advertise for them(M&R) for free has it all figured out.

GoPro. They have cool ads, and they don´t force their product on you like Monster does, forcing their riders to mention the brand name on the podium

Kawasaki's ads during the national coverage are so irritating that they make me want to avoid buying a kawi, even if they were the best bikes around. I've seen some reasonably creative ktm ads in magazines over the years. Monster probably gain the most out of mx advertising, which we should be embarrassed about really.

Id go with GoPro, they use the costumer vid's for their marketing. So the commercials don't get to boring and it get's the message across.

I work in marketing..im not going to answer this question...but i will add MORE questions as some of the answers are pretty obvious.

this is too broad of a question...

best OEM bike mfg marketing?

apparel?

after market parts / accesories ??

energy drink???

what does 'the best' mean? ..most aesthetically pleasing advertisements, originality or ROI?

and does the best advertising mean the most sales?

i dont have access to the bike sales data per mfg but todays consumer is much more informed and has much more power as far as information goes before making a decision before a purchase.

yamaha could spend 10 fold the amount of $$ it does in magazine & online ads and it still wouldnt change the fact that alot of people think the 450 is a turd and the 250F..while a good bike is very outdated.

i will say this though..the best way of advertising is word of mouth and focusing on building a quality product or providing a good service.

Example: I can't imagine a guy like Eric Gorr spending a ton of $$ on advertising but his reputation is almost perfect (never read anything bad about him, used his services in the past but im sure someone might not like him) and he's been around forever.

He does good work and people recommend him to others.

Google "Manufacturer annual report" and you will find 2011 sales data in units sold, revenue, % change, and sales projections (among other financial metrics and market insights) for any of the big 5.

That would be Honda. Gotta keep the moat maintained to keep the two strokes out of the castle.

Monster.

Monster energy supercross...Villopoto=Monster...RC in the sx booth with the Monster blazer...Dirt Shark with the Monster videos...team Pro-Circuit=Monster

Its getting old but EVERY DAMN TIME a Kawi guy gets on the podium he says how he cant thank enough Monster blah blah blah.

A special tip of the cap to Go-Pro, Lucas Oil and the obvious choice, Fox.

The best bike company would have to be KTM as they listen to the market, look at how many models they carry.

As far as MFG's go it would have to be KTM. They have a huge bike line up but the thing that impresses me is the lifestyle accessories you can buy. Baby dummies, kids balance bikes, toasters etc. you can nearly deck your house out with ktm branded stuff. Way to build brand loyalty

Wow.... You must work in a whole different part of marketing than i do.... Focusing on putting out a better or product has nothing to do with marketing... Good marketing is selling that turd to the masses....

Last time I checked, marketing 101 gives us 4 P's: product, place, price, promotion. Wrapping a "turd" with false perceptions is not sustainable... creating perceived value based on a solid product is.

Monster
Kawi
Honda

as far as companies marketing to dealerships with banners, posters etc. . Yami hands down, Kawi 2nd
Honda is pretty much nonexhistant when it comes to dealer swag.
