I’m looking for a 250 that would fit a shorter rider the best, I’m 5’6 with a 30 inch leg inseam, I went to my local motor sports place, I didn’t get to sit on the bikes, they weren’t letting anyone sit on them for some reason, but all they had in there were Honda and Yamaha, the Yamaha was obviously to tall, looking at the CRF250 it looked a lot shorter than the YZ250F, I hear that the RMZ250F was a lot shorter than both of those, and the KX250F was a little bit shorter than the rest, so which bike should If that’s true which bike should I get?

The RMZ-250 or the KX-250 are probably your best bet. Kawi has adjustable pegs. Looking at the way Cooper rides the KTM’s though...

The 2019 YZF 450 is pretty low (way lower than the KTMs). I assume that the 250 is the same height so i would recommend that you get your hands on a Yamaha and sit on it. It might have looked low but at least my 2019 450 is one of, if not the lowest bike that i have ever been on. The distance from the pegs to the seat is also relatively short, people with longer legs tend to buy tall seats for the Yamaha.

I was looking at the YFZ, I might get one since I’m only 18 and still growing, but I have never rode a 450, so I think it would be safe to go with the 250, the 450 has a lot more power than I thought lol.

Get the 250f - you can get a lowering link kit for all the brands I do believe. or just take some 4x4 blocks with you to the track.

I’m a few inches taller but with short legs (pants with a 30” inseam are a bit long for me). There’s really no reason you can’t be comfortable on any of the bikes. I wouldn’t let seat height determine your purchase. The differences between them are pretty negligible as far as that goes. If you’re buying used, it’s far better to get the cleanest, newest, best maintained bike for the money, regardless of brand.

Yeah I heard lowering links, I got one so I’m good there, if I install it on the YZF 250f would I probably fit a lot better on it, and maybe shave the seat down a little.

I’m planning on getting a used one, it’s just going to be hard to find a used one that’s been reall maintenance on it lol. I have a lowering linkage, so I would probably have to install that and shave the seat down a little lol.

I have a 18 Husky and it is definitely a lower seat height than my previous yamaha and KX's. They also make a husky "low" seat and you can do the lowering link. (you can do this to any bike)

FYI - I am 5'7" and 30 inseam

Yeah I looked up the huskies seat height, it was by far the lowest one, but I don’t have a dealer that sells them here.

The older RMZ's have a thick seat that can be shaved down quite a bit..... However the suspension is terrible.... The KX also has pretty bad stock suspension... I would go with a CRF

Same height and same inseam as you.
Frankly the difference in seat height when you're on a showroom floor amounts to a hill of beans. My son's KTM350 feels taller than my friend's KX450, but when riding them the KX feels much taller. My YZ450 feels much shorter than either one of them. Due to our sawed off legs, nothing bigger than a supermini is going to feel comfortable when it comes to dabbing a foot or trying to balance it for a gate drop with no foot blocks. That's just the way it goes.

Find a reliable bike, make sure it has the right springs for your weight and go have some fun. You're overthinking the seat height thing, particularly for MX. For reference, my son is only 5'5 and has something like a 28" inseam. His bike isn't lowered, and he flat rips around a track.

I have an 11’ Kx250f. I’m 5’6” 165lbs no I can’t stand flat footed or anything but it fits me well. I’m comfortable on it. Just rode a buddies 15’ crf250 and thought it was giagantic feeling compared to my bike.

Yeah that’s true, I was looking on google for he shortest seat height on a bike, I’m thinking of just getting a RMZ250F it had the shortest seat height out of all I think, I hve lowering kit for it, ( it’s on my old bike CR125) and I’m probably going to shave the seat foam a little.

I'm 5'9" and my dad is 5'6" and my RMz450 fits us both just fine, even though it's adjusted more to my height. They're all fairly adjustable, especially if you're okay with shaving your seat, etc.

Rmz . I’m 5 5 my 13 felt great after getting my suspension set for me and a Yoshimura pipe. The 19s seem to have made pretty good improvement on the motor which was the only weakness imo. Not to mention they are cheaper than the other brands. Don’t get a lowering kit, the oem didn’t design them that way. At 5 6 you don’t need one

I'm 5' 5" and rode a '16 KX 250F for a year. It felt good to me. I also rode at the same time an '02 RM 125 that was 2" taller. It felt better than the KX-F to me. I'm currently riding an '18 KTM 150 XC-W which is the tallest of them all, and which I ride in enduros- a place where you'd think you could actually use a shorter bike- and our trusty '04 KX 125. I have a "normal" seat and a "tall" seat for the KX and nearly always use the tall seat as the transition from sitting to standing is easier.

Seat height just isn't that important.

I heard about that, if I get a Rmz or a KXF I’m going to swap suspensions out, I have a RG3 suspension.

I might just go with the KXF then, I just feel more comfortable with both feet touching lol.

You can buy a lower seat from Yamaha that makes a big difference. I had a 2016 Yamaha 250F and went that route, sure beats fucking up a stock seat. I now have a 2018 Husky 350 and they also sell a lower seat and it made a big difference as well. I'm 5'5" and 28" inseam too-maybe because I am old and crotchety, but I hate how tall the bikes are. So annoying to me. I sure fit my 1978 RM 125 a lot better than these giants! Thank God for Estart-this feature does make me smile every single time I ride.
