I have seen a few of these poles lately, sorry in advance for making another one haha. I have been out of riding mx for about 5 years, still have rode here and there so not rusty on the bike. I always raced 250fs and 125s back then but now that I’m a little older I bought and then sold a 2016 rmz450 and I did like the power on a 450. I am 6’2” and 185 lbs and I feel like a 450 suits me better but have been tossing the idea around of a yz250. Out of the new 450s which one would you go with? I am looking to buy in the next week so just wanted to hear some last opinions.

Which 2019 450 would you buy?

I'd go for the Kawi personally as I've had good luck with my last 2 reliability wise, plus with all the new updates I'd be keen to try it!

A clean RM250 after 2005 if you can find one.

I forgot to put in the original post that I am leaning towards the kawi as I have had them in the past. The only thing I am wondering is if there are usually bugs that they work out after the debut year model, making me want to wait for a 2020

I love 2 strokes and would like to get one as a back up bike eventually, I’m not sure why I even included yz250 in the poll as I really just want a 450 now. Maybe just pipe dreaming cool

A vote option for YZ250 in a 450 poll?....I think you already made up your mind! Real easy for this guy.

I’ve got a yz250 and a yz450f. The yz250 is fun but it only get pulled out of the garage once or twice a year. I had more then 30 track days on the 450 last year. When I could only ride once a month and was out of shape the yz250 was my choice though.

I’d buy any color, minus orange. Call me a pussy, but I no longer want to kick start a dirt bike....

Tomac and/or Anderson for 2020.....

You mean, yellow? I can’t say that I don’t agree.

A lot of guys voted Yamaha. I really have it narrowed down to Kawasaki and ktm but I have always liked the Yamahas that I had and I used to have many. Tell me why you like your Yamaha. I am also just getting back into things so I’m not going to be as fast as I was which wasn’t lightning fast laughing

Is there anyway you could ride the YZ450 and a KX450? I got to ride all of them and it was a hands down KX for
Me. I don’t like the extra weight of the YZ

If your mind is set on a new 450, go blue. The Yamaha Tuner App would be great to have. Map it so you can get your feeling back a little without it being scary fast. Then turn it up to 11 when you're ready. lol Fine tuning for aftermarket parts is a plus too.

I’m almost identical in size and weight to you. 5 pounds heavier smile. I have the 2019 kx 450 and it’s the best mx bike I’ve ever ridden and love it. Added a stiffer fork spring to the right leg and that’s it. Such a smooth bike with great handling and suspension! Feels light and slim. Can’t go wrong!

If I was spending my own money I would buy the RMZ. For the. Price of the others you could get an RMZ, exhaust and suspension. I’m. Practice day rider so kicking the bike is t that big of a deal to me.

Bought a 19 crf450 this year after being a lifetime Suzuki rider. No longer a serious racer and just ride practice days with the occasional local race. Couldn’t be happier with the bike. Great power and suspension

I bought a kx 450 this year and absolutely love it. I weigh 185 as well 6' tall and the forks feel a tad soft but handles awesome. Foot pegs come with 2 positions and bar mounts come with 4 spots for adjustments. No complaints from me with the kawi.

You are asking which one is the best bike? Even the biggest fanboys have to admit that is the KTM/Husky.
Just watch Jeff Walkers latest video. He was a die hard Honda guy, but he tried a KTM and was instantly blown away. He said it felt like riding a 250 with over 50hp.

Going by brands preferred at the last REM race: KTM (which you don’t want) 38%, Yam 32%, Hon 10%, Hus 10%, Kaw 5%, TM 2%, Suz 2%. Me personally I prefer the YZ-450, had a great dealer (where I used to live) close by, Simi Valley Cycles, bike is very dependable, good re-sale, awesome suspension, solid bike. Might want to ride one, then you’ll know if it gels with you.

If I’m dropping 10k on a bike it’s gonna be the Honda personally. Rode the 2019 YZ450 and YZ250 last Sunday. While the YZ250 is a fun bike it just signs off way to early for me. Way to used to the unlimited top end pull of these modern four strokes. It’s a beast off the bottom and midrange though. I Duno I think these days it doesn’t matter they are all awesome bikes. Go for the best deal.

Its a tie between the ktm and the kx for me as far as the bike itself goes. Being as ive like kawi since i rode a klx110 at 9 years old and own more kawi shit than harley dudes own harley shit, it would look bad to be on a ktm. And being 290 lbs, i dont trust the frame on the KTM to hold up - as rediculous as that sounds. If a 140lb dude at the mxgp can snap a frame, my fat ass surely can too.

His video gave the impression that he tried the KTM and decided that very day to make the switch. Put his Honda up for sale the same evening. He than went to the dealer but they were sold out of KTM FE's but they had one Husky RS left so he chose that. Hard to imagine he just showed up at a local dealer expecting a free bike but I could be wrong.

One thing to consider with the ktm/husky is if u want to go the air fork route. For me that was a no, even though it’s a good air fork. Most of the fast guys on ktm/husky also fork (no pun intended) over another $2-3k for cone valves and all that. So do u want to buy a bike with traditional spring forks and no fuss, or buy one with a good air fork that is still air and could leave u with much more expensive mods down the road? That’s how I looked at it.

I've always rode yzs . I had 1 ktm with the airfork , it failed and blew out my tricep . It came down to yz or kx and went with the kx because it felt lighter , slimmer and was a better deal . Imho the newer ktms don't hold up that well after 50 or so hrs
