With RC looking fitter than he has in years and all the hypothetical bench racing going on.......If he started training for the Outdoors now, where would he finish at the first round?

He'd be competitive, for sure. I don't think that even RC would be able to overcome his age and the decade and a half of non-competition he has been in, though. I'll say he'd score points but beyond that who knows.

Worse than a lot of you probably think. I don't think a 40 year old RC has the intensity required to run with even the top half of the field.

If he could push for 35 mins, he'd do about top 5. Then get better! His speed has probably hardly dropped.

Top 5 first Moto, maybe skips second Moto. He may have lost intensity, but can corner as good as the best current riders IMO. Remember when Guy Cooper came back and raced as a 40 yo? And of course John Dowd.

Unless he’s worried about his legacy I think it would be an excellent idea for Suzuki to get him out there for a race.

I can't imagine anyone, even the GOAT, could turn up after 14 years of not racing and hang with the elite for a full outdoor moto, no matter how fit they were.
If he finished anywhere in the top 20 I'd be impressed, but can't seriously imagine why RC would even contemplate it.

It blows my mind that these guys think he would be top 10 top 5 hahaha Laughing They must be trolling. In my opinion, he would qualify, barely qualify, and finish 30th or worse. Wink

If he trained and rode for a solid 3 months and came in fully preperated, took this opportunity as a blessing in the skies i think he could get up around the top 10, which would be pretty outstandable.

Top 5 on the start the fade to 25th or so. Unless he put in a full off season of training before hand.

You guys just don’t get it. Put down the pipe. Friggin Keefer damn near qualified and probably will this year and as good as he is as a rider RC is elite, and has a work effort like no other. Physically 40 is just fine. Many elite athletes at that age. Wake up with some RC roost to the face! Evil

Someone post the video of RC blasting around in the sand wheel tapping trees and shit. This guy can still cut competitive laps. The question is does he want to. When you’re 40 you think with a different brain than when you’re 25.

I don't think you loose speed you just loose the ability to sustain it.

Pretty sure he was 4th in qualifying at Aus X Open 4 or 5 years ago when he did the head to head with Reed. That was peak plumpness and basically an arenacross track...if he trained...outdoors...no peds...respectable 12th

I’d say between 5-10th. Considering how far off the pace of the leaders that the 5-10th place riders are I think he’d do that without pushing himself

Just fitness, not so great..
With a bit of seat time, he would probably be somewhere around where Reed is. They have the skills to be insanely fast but not the burning desire to find that extra few tenths

Reed off the couch after a bad season with a bad injury that he raced all year on. Who could barely walk right most of the sx season. At Iron man pulled 2 holeshots and went 8-5 on a jgr suzki he hadn't rode very much.

Rc still rides a ton, still has the techniques down and enough stamina to turn with out training for it to put in 2 respectable motos and pull a 5-15

Remember in 09 when Reed was on the Suzuki , RC was only retired 2 years and Reed waxed him bad . He'd be lucky to finish top 10 .

Ricky would make Tomac cry. I’m a believer in RC. Whatever he puts his mind to, he succeeds. His announcing went from D+ to A- in one season. Plus he is funny as hell, I love it when he trolls people on Twitter
