Anyone know the latest on Weston? I see he is in a FLY ad in the latest RacerX issue. Not at the races? No longer with JGR? Will we see him back racing post Europe injury?
From what I understand he`s retired. He still has vision problems, I heard.
Also I read somewhere he had a real good insurance policy in regards to career ending injuries.
Unofficially retired, I believe I read somehwere that he needs to wait a certain amount of time to actually retire due to insurance policies in place. Not uncommon for athletes. But his eyes will not get better anytime soon.
He's living in the same house right around the corner from me, and I understand he has his hands in a business or two. He and his wife walk their dog down my street and my wife talks to his from time to time... says she's a sweetheart. It sounds like he has a pretty good life going.
I'm not going to put any words in the guy's mouth but I have a pretty certain feeling about his MX career that I bet most of you do as well. He's always been a cool guy when I've spoken to him and I wish him the absolute best.
He was at the Oakland race and was interviewed (guessing in the stadium feed only). He said he is now working for Fly racing in some sales/development role. He did not say he would never race again, but it sure looks like he is focused on his next career. I don't recall if she asked him about his vision or health in general
One of his podcasts with Matthes he said he owns a furniture store in California, and i believe a vape shop but hes more involved running the furniture business day-to-day. Plus hes been doing riding schools and has a Suzuki still.
