Someone told me today that KTM engine parts are made in China. I have a hard time believing that. As their factory is in Austria. If they're paying people to build the bikes there, and the hallmark of KTM's name is fit, finish and quality, I doubt they outsource engine parts to China.
Anyone have any insight? If I'm proven wrong I'll be eating a lot of crow.

The Shop
I'm pretty sure this was the original OEM clutch basket.
So what outsourced parts are on KTM's?

We know vertex makes their Pistons. Who makes their electronics?
I believe I also remember reading about a KTM factory in Malaysia producing engines.
saw below on wiki
At present KTM AG is 51% owned by CROSS KraftFahrZeug Holding GmbH, a subsidiary of CROSS Industries AG[8] and 47% owned by Bajaj Auto. CROSS Industries is founded by KTM's current CEO Stefan Pierer.[9]
Ryan Dungey reeling off titles isn't what did it on a global spectrum.
Has there been any other resurgence in the industry by a mfg like this? Not including Husky...
For those of us throwing the India v. AG data around: That's "ownership" as in stock distribution, etc.
If KTM is anything like that (probably very much so,) They get wheels from Japan, ignitions from Korea, Rods from Croatia, Serbia or Herzgobia, steel for their frames from the US or Russia, electronics from Germany, etc.
Most of you would be surprised at how little a KTM is actually KTM-made. (Or Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Gas-Gas, etc.)
Or maybe the 2 stroke kooks really do have that much influence? Worldwide, Orange is the color....
