Did I miss something, is Anderson out? Based on the OP, I would guess Anderson, JMart and Osborne.

There's no way they'd pick Covington. The MX2 class isn't the issue; you'd pick Savatgy, J Mart, Plessinger, Cianciarulo over him

Well...if that's our team....then I'll be behind them and rooting for them 100%. Actually really , really curious how Zach will do on the bigger bikes. He's been like the god damned honey badger this year....he could surprise s lot of folks. Seely can be consistent and Thomas has showed he has some really good speed.

I'm actually releived were sending a team. Wasn't sure if we would or not.

There is some merit to this. I think all those guys are faster , but I think Thomas may not be a bad pick here either. And since he's been racing over there the last 3 years , the experience may help a bit. He's been pretty dang solid this year.

The general vibe I get from the OP is that he somehow has an "in", and knows the team is Seely, Osborne, Covington. If that's the case, then that's the team.

Didn't Zack ride a 450 Yam a few years back for PR? And if I remember right he was pretty impressive...

Osborne wins his class.
Covington gets a podium.
Seely has 5 - 7 Moto scores

...and the "underdogs" take home the big trophy at the end of the day.

Stamp it.

That seems like a best case scenario based on who's available.

That's a strong team. They are going to have to pull out some heart and determination to win this one. Could be a great story!

I really hope this happens. I think Covington is a solid pick and should be looked at considering he has been the best mx2 guy at multiple rounds his year. Which means he can obviously beat anyone in that class if he's on. Osborne will be perfectly fine wherever he ends up. 250, 350, 450 put him on a dang white KTM super duke and and he will probably still get top 3. He's on it this year. Seely I think will wear the Stars and Stripes proudly and ride his heart out. Can't ask for more than that.

Go USA!

I like Covington and Osborne (obviously) but I'm not sure about Seely. What's wrong with Webb?

I was really hoping for Craig. The dude can get good starts and have solid finishes.

Regardless, I hope Seely goes out and does amazing.

They've got a lot of testing to do on the new bike.

I think they'll be alright, barring any freak incidents (Anderson last year). If Seely can rise to the occasion he could become the new Captain America. I'm confident that Zach is going to be a stud. Covington should be solid if he keeps the rubber side down. All IMHO of course!

Go Team USA!!!

Because Barcia doesn't have a contract to ride for anyone after the last National?

Could Osborne not ride his 250 as an open bike?

I wish them luck and will be cheering them on who ever is on the team.

My only worry with Covington is his consistency, he is a top 3-5 guy in speed at every GP, but he has too many races where something goes wrong.

9 times out of 10 The Des Nations is all about mitigating risk. That's why Seely is a decent pick, he may not win a moto out right but he is a consistent top 5 threat.

Could but I don't think it's a smart move.

Some statistics of the top 10 250 USA riders, plus top 2 MXGP & Covington. Due to the nature of the points system, the standard deviation will look worse if you're winning races.

Here it is by position. Statistically, Harrison is a better choice than Covington (different series obviously, but if you're of the AMA > GP mantra, then it follows he's not the right choice)

The team is Osborne and Seely 450, and Covington 250

I can pick 5 uS 250 riders that would be better than Covington
This.....

I'm VERY intrigued to hear the rationale behind this (if true).
