I always try my best, and bet ur ass I'll work for newmann. But understand, I'm a fat guy that was barely B class 14 years ago(and 45 pounds).
It's mostly about survival and scoring points for my Buddy.
Gonna try my best, bud.

"12.5mi lap w/8mi of flowing single track"
It'll be 8mile of tech single track haha.
Grr
We arrived at Rock Run OHV Park in Patton, PA around 0830. It was 43 degrees and windy AF.
Course was 12 miles and true to its name, was Very rocky with roots EVERYWHERE, the entire course was that slimey mud that is never wet, nor thick...just scummy all over.
My young partner took the start on his well used 14 250SX in a row of 13 other racers whom shared our Class. Unfortunately, he got tangled in a downed rider at the first turn. One of those 'front tire in the back tire/exhaust' of the other contestant deals. After a mighty fight, he freed himself to tear off into the slick and unforgiving woods....the Lad rode well, knocking down a 48min lap across 12mi of tight trees, nasty rocks, non-cooperative roots, and unforgiving muck.
I awaited his arrival at our pit staged an 1/8 of a mile beyond the scoring loop/finish line.
Around minute 42, Without knowing his pace, successes or problems; I mounted the mighty '13 250SX and put heat in the beast. Our crowd of family and well-wishers watched for the Lad's approach as I attempted to remain cool and loose as the the stead gained heat and lurched ahead as if we're a tethered dragon. Blue smoke exiting it's tailpipe, also like a dragon.
Finally the Lad broke the horizon and I bounded off, tires spinning, legs flailing. It wasn't cool. But I was off.
I found myself riding well, a few hiccups. Two falls, two stalls, one hill with riders down in both lines...I just shot the bike to the top, recounted and carried on.
Something funny happened though, about halfway through, caught myself having fun. It was about that time Newmann crept in my brain. As I was hitting trees, water holes, roots and everything else, I thought of Joe a couple times(between almost crashing) and how this while deal has come together. It was fun. While the course was trying to kill me, I was having fun.
I knew I was riding well(for me). But I had less arm pump, less cramps. Then the rain came. Wasn't a bother at all. I got passed alot, which is normal. But a made a few passes as well.
As I came through scoring and charged back to the pit send the Lad off on the final lap, I felt accomplishment. For the ride, and mostly for helping the Lad, and helping a good thing get off the ground here on VitalMX.
We ended 8th of 13 in our class, and 160th of 273 overall. It was good enough to earn the points the Lad needed to secure 5th in points in his Rookie year. Yeah, it was Buddy Class, but damn the Buddy Class has gotten faster than I remember. The top 5 ran VetA pace lol.
I say this caper has been a success.
