My brother is eyeing a "left over" 21GasGas 450 and the dealer is not willing to go off MSRP.

And they probably won’t for quite some time.

I do not see this coming back any time soon. It is a sellers market and this was something manufacturer's did when they needed to or couldn't move inventory with new models coming in. That is not a problem in today's market so they have no incentive to do so.

in todays market if its msrp, and no other fees its a good deal

|

6/8/2021 7:52 AM

You're lucky to find non current inventory. If you get out the door for under 12K Buy it.

|

In the past, KTM would start their incentives June 1.

As noted above, there is no reason for incentives in today’s market.

|

Those deals where precovid…. They don’t need incentives to move it…

Was thinking the same thing. If he hasn't called them or gone back yet bike is probably already sold. Fingers crossed and jump on it asap.

Depends on how bad he wants it really. If he really can't wait, he better get it now. Another 5-6 months could be a totally different story. The way things are now can't and won't last forever.

It won’t last forever, but you don’t live forever, either. As someone who works for a large multinational manufacturer, we are being told not to expect the supply chain to go back to business as usual until over a year from now at the earliest.

|

6/8/2021 9:04 AM

Usually late spring, early summer. Maybe May of 2022 if you're lucky.

The incentive is that they actually let you take the bike home the same day you pay full price for it.

Which I understand completely supply not being normal for at least one year, but what will demand be like? I'd be it won't be anywhere close to what it is now. Covid money will be gone and we will be looking at 2008/2009 all over again, if not worse.

Nobody ever told me, I found out for myself. You've got to believe in foolish miracles. It's not how you play the game, it's if you win or lose. You can choose. Don't confuse. Win or lose. It's up to you!

6/8/2021 11:14 AM

Years ago I’ve seen deep discounts come a couple years later, like on bikes still on the floor no one wanted and the manufacturer had sitting in their warehouses. Today? No.

Nope. A lot of people must have been absent from school the day they went over supply-and-demand.

yes.... but when is the question. The issue of supply chains getting back to "normal" could be still 2 years away. The semiconductor shortage is real. Inflation is rampant everywhere. We could easily see manufacturers ramp up recommended prices another 2-3k from where they are today before all this is said and done.

|

Dont expect pricing to go down any time in the next 1-2 years for anything. Especially if it involves any metals. Ive watched metal prices go up anywhere from 60% to 300% since January. I have work on my past due list right now that is 6 weeks old. Why? I cant get material. And the raw metals material shortage is just starting. Its going to get bad. Really really bad.
