Had a Briggs and Stratton mini-bike before this, but this was the oldest pic I've found. Circa 1980

I have that XR in my garage, now

Dont have any pics but the first bike i rode was my uncles honda mini bike. Then when i was big enough i hopped on his xr70 and rode that thing to death. Then many years later i finally got my first real dirtbike, a 2004 yz125. I was the happiest 14 year old kid ever when i finnaly saved up enough money to buy that bike.

That's a 1977 XR-75 in my pic. Did the same, was on that bike every chance I had. My mother would give me a dollar for lunch at school every day, .58 a gallon gas afforded me a lot of freedom. So what if I was only eating two meals a day! I lived two blocks from the Mesa and to me it was dirt bike nirvana.

I think it's a 1974 Indian 30 with a centrifugal clutch. Check out the sandals and bell bottoms. And the nice shirt. Someone's getting more ass than a toilet seat at Yankee's Stadium.Laughing I started when I was 4 but that was with training wheels. Looks like I was maybe 6 when this was taken? Kick started forward onto a metal tank. I distinctly remember my foot slipping and smashing my berries badly. Thank god for the "safety seat" and universal backwards kickstarters.

When you 13 years old and 6' 3" you don't ride mini bikes.

I'll have to scan a pic but it was a 85 XR80 it took 1 broken collar bone and about 2 months of bottoming out the suspension before my parents got me a CR80.

Four years old. I didn't get a real motorcycle until a few years later, but I'll be damned if I wasn't ready... coordinated outfit and all.

1992 - 6th birthday on Christmas morning. PW50.

26 years later, history is getting close to repeating itself.

Last weekend at the bike shop with my son.

This was in 1999, Was 5 and had just got my 95 KTM 50. I loved that thing. Seems like it was just yesterday.

I thought this thread was going to be about what Mookie said to his mechanic two days after Atlanta.

Man, there are some sweet pics in there. Smile

In one way it does illustrate how things change, though. How many of you actually get prints of photos now? In a few years, they'll all be digital, and no one will have aged and faded pics in a box that crack and get dog-eared.

I had the same bike (mine was orange, though), and similar taste in clothes, except I wore cowboy boots.

If you look close you'll see tire marks on this one. I was carrying them home from the drug store on my bike and dropped them in the the street. Got run over before I could pick them up.

Eddie Crowell (Crowell's Cycle-Inglewood, CA) and my dad built this minibike for me (as a fun project for them and a excuse to drink beer and eat bad pizza at night). But most importantly it was to keep me out of trouble so I wouldn't get mixed up with the wrong crowd at school - Their project turned into a life long passion for me... thanks dad and Eddie (who still stay up late eating bad pizza and drinking beer in the garage tinkering around)

1972 Mini Trail, followed by the 73 SL70, which lead to a 1975 Suzuki TM100 under the Xmas tree-best Xmas ever! Nothing has topped it since. That was when the racing began. There is a picture somewhere....
