Before the internet, there was Cycle News.

MXA for tests and product reviews.

RacerX for stories, articles, etc.

They are all bias.... but I like MXA and racer x... Transworld was my fav but I feel like it isn’t as good the last 5ish Years.. but I read them all

MXA for comprehensive testing. I know they get knocked on here. But all their recommendations are effective. Some even making it into production in following years. VitalMX tests are fantastic as well. RacerX great for industry info. Then Transworld more for pics and gear features.

MXA is it. Bikes. Parts. Not into the People magazine side of the sport. Still like getting the printed version of the magazine instead of digital.

Vital is the best source for breaking news, and the articles and photos are top notch.

Motocross Journal... Was friggen awesome.

Used to love cycle news. Mxa is good. Got a subscription to that and twmx. Racer x is great also

They all have their own style as someone else stated. (All my personal opinion) MXA had the best technical coverage and testing, Transworld had the best race coverage, Racer X always had the best photos and stories (besides Jody's Box in MXA), Dirt Rider always seemed more off-road oriented. I say all this in past tense because I honestly haven't had one of any of their magazines in quite some time. I hardly ever go to their websites anymore to be honest. I spend pretty much all my online moto time on vital. Pit-Bits, ML512 technical stuff and View From The Floor are all awesome content that I look forward to weekly. And I guess "hanging out" with all the hooligans in this place too

Oh how I wish everyone could've read MXA during the glory years of the mid 80's to mid 90's. Such a great magazine, and still the only one worth reading if you actually want knowledge about the tech side of the sport. On the other hand, if you want 80 pages filled with "lifestyle " nonsense there's quite a few other mags you can buy. Racer x is decent, but zero articles about anything mechanical related. I read them once and toss them . Sorry DC.

Dirt Rider (RIP) and Racer X

I'd say RacerX, they are still digging for interesting stories beyond the everyday racing storylines.

MXA is definitely the old faithful and I still have a subscription, but in addition to the constant two-stroke drumbeat (I love smokers too, I get it I get it), I feel like there is an underserved market niche in terms of product reviews and shootouts. So instead of a once-a-year bike shootout (that comes after everyone has bought their bikes for the season), I think they need to focus more on evaluating aftermarket pipes. How about the RMZ 250 pipe shootout? The KTM 125 pipe shootout? People buy a lot more "stuff" than they do bikes."

I know it's a small industry in terms of risking ticking people off with bad reviews, but given their leanings toward technical aspects, I think they really need to focus more on product reviews. Case in point, I was just looking at aftermarket mufflers for my YZ 250F, an immensely popular bike, and can't seem to find a review newer than 2014 (?!?)

Dirt Bike is pretty good lately

No joke..... I developed my vocabulary and reading comprehension skills by reading Jody's Box when I was about 14-16. I hated reading until my dad started bringing home MXA for me in the early 90's.

Cycle World. I like big words and story tellers. I used to subscribe to at least 2 at once, MXA and Dirt Rider.

Now just Cycle World. New one right beside me for 2weeks and haven’t cracked it.
Used to make my night, check the mailbox and there was a new mag. in it!

Kind of sad, but the iPad in my hand has pushed them the way of the Dodo bird.
