I don't know if there is already a thread on the matter? Motocross appears to becoming an older mans sport; I see plenty of threads here about dodgy hearts & knees, makes me think that.
I started racing motocross here in Australia in 1975 as a 15 year-old, all my mates rode, we'd ride side-saddle to most tracks on our 125 mx bikes, the cops would just give us a warning, poor kids would get locked-up now (or maybe shot in the US ;-) )

I think it's because the 10-18y/o group is riding on their parents expense, and 40+ is situated well enough, that they can afford to ride.
Biggest question is where to get enough money to be able to afford 4 dirt bikes in the future .. :D
Started racing at Indian Dunes in 1975 at 3 1/2
Pit Row
I chose a life behind bars, wouldn't have it any other way
regarding the topic. younger than chad reed. and much slower too.
59 years in. Enjoyed every minute of it and made some great friend's along the way.
None of my bikes have seen the inside of a shop. Between that and money I at least have an excuse as to why I'm slow
