What's with Feld over doubling Metlife ticket prices for 2015?

Edited Date/Time 5/21/2014 10:28pm
Seriously $123.90 for tickets in section 117 row 20 where I sat last year were $48......is this price gouging or what? Forget that.....I know I won't be going next year......that's real scumbagg stuff right there. I'm sure this will get dumbgened because of all the nut hugging here but just beware Vitards....

Yeah I wouldn't pay that either - Feld probably heard mitch gets more than a grand for a pipe so figured if their target audience will pay that they will pay over $100 to watch a race...

Welcome to NY. People will pay it and wash down their $8.00 hot dogs with a $10.00 plastic cup of beer. The good thing is Feld is increasing the SX purse just for this race. 450f will pay $100,000 to the winner down to $7500 for last place. 250f will pay $50,000 to the winner down to $4000 for last place. Should be a great event.

Jendro said Feld lost money on the event this year, they are not a charity.

Paying a union guido 220 an hour to drive a dump truck is probably why.

and a 10 dollar beer is a deal - at Petco its 15

Is that true about the union equipment operators ? I read that before the event and wondered if it would happen.

I would bet they did not make any money this year. They used it all on PR and fireworks. So next year they are going to make up for that work.

We stayed at a hotel about 15 minutes away and took a cab there . We pulled up behind the monster chicks unloading from a van and found one of their phones on the ground . Getting a cab away from the place is near impossible , we had to take the train and get a cab from a different area back to our room.

I checked for tickets not long before the race this year and prices for tickets in the 100 sections were not $48... Most tickets were $120.. even upper levels. I'm thinking the prices may have been lower when they first announced the race and they raised the price seeing the popularity...

I don't know who had them on sale for $48 unless you went to the venue and bought them.
I bought my tickets online the first week they were sold and I paid $73.00 plus the $13 ticket fee for section 234.

Parking was $30. Insane. Stadium was a long way from full, I don't think raising prices will help.
5/11/2014 4:44pm
Im a union heavy equiptment operator, and my union covers the stadium. As far as i know NONE of our guys worked that race and no its not $220hr. Or union pay scale is about $80 hr. California ny, conn, are all pretty close in pay scale. $80 includes are medical, pension, annuity, and vacation pay. Bottom line is "work union, live better".

I am also local 825 and the pay scale is closer to $110/hr. I do payroll for my company. Despite that Feld knew what the costs were and they sold MORE tickets than expected. Did you see those people sitting in the upper deck? That's because they sold more tickets at the door than expected. I paid $48(the price on the ticket plus pit passes for $15 and with all fees came out to $74 and change. I bought 3 different times.....when they first came out, a week later and then about a month later so yes they were for sale for that much in section 117. I bought 15 tickets total. Feld is very familiar with this business. They do damned near every circus and entertainment event in the US. Do you really think they lost so much that they need to over double the price?

I bought my tickets sec 133 on ticketmaster for $48 a ticket for this years race. I bought them for next year $125

Lost money? Yeah,if the armored truck went into the river.

All the companies that buy in to be the, like monster and unlimited ,fox, they make real money before a ticket is sold.

I'd then rather buy a flight and ticket for Atlanta......atleast I'll get out of Jersey......I had 5 people back out from tickets I was selling because $75 with pit pass was "not for 2?"

Maybe the NY crowd is used to paying more for just about everything, but to expect families or normal working class people to pay $100+ for a single SX ticket is crazy. Then add on parking, food, travel, etc. A family of 5 could easily spend a grand for 3 hours of entertainment.

It is all supply and demand, I guess Feld is willing to test the demand.

But for something you can watch live for free on TV, they are really testing the dedication (and bank accounts) of the SX fan base. Like Rocketsocks said, "work union, live better". As long as enough people are willing to pay for it. If not, I guess history repeats and it will be another 20+ years with no NY SX.

Hey, if you want to get raped and pay that for tickets then fine.....I will not.....$140 after taxes plus $30 parking(if they don't double that too). Pretty awesome huh? It's cheaper to go to a football game.......

Unsure

yeah, work union live better and jack up the prices artificially so the average working man who isnt part of a thug organization like any union gets screwed.

Unions are thieving scum and part of the reason why SX did not come back to the tri-state area for so long. Businesses dont want to deal with paying ridiculous wages for unskilled labor.
