These collections are wild. As someone who usually just has one, maybe two (a 250F and a 450F or two 250Fs) bikes at a time, what's the benefit to you of having so many?

I enjoy finding the bikes and the restore process.... it’s a hobby, not a money maker for me...I ride as much as my body will allow but I”M in my 50”s now. Working in my shop, seeing all the bikes I enjoyed growing up.... cranking great music..it’s good for my soul... and some days... I just feel good & say: ok, I will take this one out today for some motos.. Photo

I just picked one of these up, once I finish the restoration I'll hit the track with it. I'm thinking of putting some newer forks on it, not sure yet though.

For all the guys who own CR's between 88-96 I would like to see some photos...

|

5/28/2020 10:31 AM

Last September I had:

2002 CR250
2002 KX125
1999 CR125

The 250 was what I rode and the 125s were project bikes to make a little $$ on.

Saw a 2016 YZ250X for sale not far away too cheap to pass up.

So that made 4.

After 1 ride on the YZ, the CR was for sale and even then it didn't take long to get full asking price ($2K - bike was not mint).

Down to 3.

Then sold the KX in April and the other CR in May.

Back to just 1.

Yes, I need to find a couple more project bikes! Nothing to work on right now....

In my wife and I's case, different 'tools' for different jobs. We have lots of bikes but they are to allow us to enjoy different aspects of motorcycling. Though some are just cool bikes we always wanted to have in our collection or sentimental.

Few updates to our fleet since my last post:

1) 2019 Husqvarna FE250 (wife's)
2) 2018 Alta EX (our's)
3) 2017 Alta MX (our's)
4) 2017 Husqvarna TC250 (mine)
5) 2008 Yamaha YZ250F Supermoto (our's)
6) 2008 Yamaha Graves R6 racebike (wife's)
7) 2007 KTM 525 EXC (mine)
8) 2006 Yamaha R1 (mine)
9) 2000 Ducati 996 (our's)
10) 1988 Honda Hawk (mine)
11) 1974 Honda CB360 (wife's)

We have a few loaner bikes in the shop garage also that we don't own but get to ride. A modern 125 mx bike and two modern streetbikes.

Living the dream!

Most bikes owned at once? One less than I thought I wanted. In 50+ years of dirtbikes, I've had a lot of different scoots. Usually only one or two were the work horse, going to the races and being ridden all the time.

At once time long long ago......1967 Greeves 250 Challenger, 1967 Bultaco Sherpa T Model 10, 1980 KTM 250 MX, 1980 BMW R100RS, 1982 Honda XR200

Another time.....1966 Honda S 90, 1969 Bultaco 250 Pursang Model 68, 1975 Kawasaki KD-100, 1978 Honda CR-250 w/ Fox Shox, 1981 Yamaha PW-50, 2004 KTM 200EXC, 2005 BMW R1200GS.

I'll try to did up some photos. Although none of these were remarkably different than the stock bikes in the sales brochure.
