OMG I'm so glad somebody else noticed this as well, it was a high pitch squealing sound. And I kept asking my gf if she was hearing it as well thinking I was just going crazy at first. But she heard it obviously as well. At first thought I figured it was maybe just brake squeal being picked up by the microphones, but it continued on when viewing multiple riders. No idea what it was. Maybe some faulty audio equipment?

The announcers heard it and commented on it during broadcast. I would hope you didn't think you were going crazy all this week.

The announcers guessed squeaky brakes.

Musta missed the squeaky brake comment. Because that's what I initially thought and determined it was at the beginning

It was Brayton's bike, I could hear it squeak every time he rode by.

The pro's use pretty hard compound brake pads that can squeak. In superbike racing the Galfer pads I ran squaked big time. Most the world superbike Ducati's squeak so bad they're almost painful to listen to live.

you couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerine factory.

for real, at live events after a while away from being away from moto, i was always suprised how the brakes of every bike squeeked as they hit corners.

I was told they had "mic'd up" a couple of the Monster girls for the Detroit show.

Ralph and Jeff acknowledged the sound. They said it appeared to be from Brayton.

A few laps later, Brayton had a flat. I'm not sure if (or how) those two would be related. But sure seems like an odd coincidence if it wasn't related. I was trying to think if a rock or something could have been wedged in between the swingarm and tire.

I've also been noticing a sound that sounds like a can of beer or soda opening but more sharp that bounces off the wall behind me while I've been watching. Its not me either. Has anyone else been hearing that?

Didn't sound like brake squeak to me, sounded like dry linkage squeak.
He's mechanic is very solid and one of the most meticulous people that I have ever met. It could potentially of been form the linkage, but really doubt it. Who knows!

Best one so far!! I too think it was Brayton's brakes, and no way in hell is it dry linkage on any of those bikes!!! Brake squeak can happen for many reasons and is not indicative of poor maintenance or a problem. It is also super irritating when the guy chasing you comes charging into every corner behind you, with brakes a squealing. Good tactical move on Brayton's part! Wink

dunno bout that, most guys I've worked with use almost totally organic pads that put you over the bars with your little finger. don't last that long (cant use in the mud at all or maybe w/solid disc). no squeaking due to no metal in the pad

Have none of you ever race a hare scramble?

Typically all of the AA and A riders on KTMs have their rear brakes heat up and squeal. It only typically happens with Brembos.

I hit mute on my tv a few times thinking I was going crazy. For a minute I was thinking I had an animal up in my attic having a field day Laughing

I was gonna say I guess you guys have never been to a GNCC...squeaky brakes are the new "bubba scrub" off-road, everyone is doing it.
