It's still way to early on, but just wanted to do some good old bench racing. Currently, Austin Forkner has scored 135+ points in the last 3 supercross seasons, meaning no matter what next year is going to be his last year on 250s due to pointing out rules.

Do we see him finally putting it together, or is it another year riddled with injuries. And if he does go out and win some championships next year, what are his 450 options with ET and AC already at Kawi. Maybe Marv retires, and Roger takes him under his wing? Thoughts?

Doesn’t he have a 450 ride lined up with Kawi ? I just suspected that how long is Eli around for ? maybe for a year or 2 they run a 3 man 450 team ?

Yeah maybe that's one option, but I don't think we've ever seen a 3 man 450 team at Kawi ala Joey Savatgy's situation last year.

Interesting dynamic between him and Sexton. Early on in ametures, and first 2/3 years as pro, Austin was the faster rider. But now Sexton has completely grown into his own, 2 championships and factory Honda 450 ride for the forseable future...

If I were Austin it would be hard not to be bitter or jealous. Interesting to see how he pulls through. Even harder now that the mx fans seems to dislike the guy.

I think he gets it done in 2021.

I have no thoughts on where he ends up.

It isn't exactly the same, but Forkner and Sexton—as well as Webb and Cianciarulo, I guess—remind me of Alessi and Villopoto, where the lesser amateur had more success as a pro. I do think Forkner and AC are better than Alessi, though.

I think this year he could do it depending on who hes racing against. I wonder how the new bike will be a factor, im sure the factory team got the bike far before the public, with not doing any outdoor rounds, he should be getting close to a fully setup bike. Who knows what happens after this year coming up, kid has speed no doubt but has the occasional ego crashes.

Austin has speed and talent, now all he needs is maturity.

If there is anyone who could benefit from a coach it is Forkner. He never seems to learn from his mistakes.

Regardless of what happens next year. Is make it or brake it for him. I am expecting big battles between him and Jett next year in the West coast, championship is going to go to one of them.

You bring something I didn’t even think about. Jett, the media poster boy, vs Forkner. I feel for him, anything other than a championship is going to be considered a failure.

I just want to see him get through a season without injuries. He's super fast, and I really wanted to see him in the outdoors.

Good question. I didn't realize he is pointing out ; that sucks, because it is a ton of unecessary pressure, and I think it would be beneficial for him to do 2 full healthy seasons in 250 as he is still very young. I hope he does a great year to land a good ride, there is no doubt he has the speed.

'19 top of his class, still pushed limits during practices for some reason with many close calls and then crashes and has season ending injury. '20 riding well coming back after injury but now just top 3 guy. '21 going to have to come back from a serious injury, don't think he will be a shoe in for any title and with all the talent without a ride, don't see him with a lot of options if he doesn't win a championship.

I agree. He come across as an over confident cocky spoiled ass. It was even worse with his Monster girl fiancee. Maybe that ending and missing outdoors will work in his favor. I don't mind confidence, but he came across as such a dick it made root against him. More fast guys in the sport is always good and hope he gets it together.

I think this coming season is Tomac's last, Forkner will fit into the factory team nicely.

He reminds me of Tomac's 'mini me'. Kawi should have the new older, wiser Tomac coach their young prodigy.

The tables have definitely turned on him as well as the fans. He has the speed, and now with more motivation than ever, he needs to get it done, but his maturity has always been his downfall. He needs to just put his head down and start grinding, and stay away from any distractions. We've seen he has the speed of AC, Sexton, and Ferrandis and look where there all now. If he can put his ego in check, I think Roger could be the perfect mentor for his attitude and mentality and we can see sort of another Cooper Webb type story from Forkner.

Couldn’t he get another year in the 250 class if he won a SX title and wanted to come defend it? I’m not sure if that’s still a rule or not.

I'm for sure a hater more than a fan of AF (Go Jett!) but a lot of you seem to have forgotten the speed and consistency he was putting together at the Salt Lake series. Barring his heavy crash in the final round main (costly mistake), he was seemingly back in form. Another (anotherrr) year to grow and mature, I'd say he will definitely be a title favourite next year in both series'.

If things aren't aligning for a ride in '22 however, do we see a J-Mart/McElrath style withdrawl from the series to stay down? Or is he too close to pointing out points wise?

No because he's been in the class more than 3 years. He'd be forced to move up to the 450 class.

I'd say you nailed it, but it's funny that judging from his TV feature thing he came from pretty humble beginnings.

If he doesn’t stop hitting the ground, just race wins as per his sample size.
His last injury was gnarly.

And another Monster chick of course.

It will be interesting to see if Austin makes it fully back in 2021. Heck, he lost more than half his spleen, right?

I think it was all his spleen, and a piece of his liver.

He's been riding for a while, so I would think he'll be fine to race by January 16th, if that date holds up.

Bingo.

When you compare the composure and maturity of him and Sexton. Sexton seems likes he’s in his mid twenties where Austin just got a driver’s license. I like both of them but I think Austin’s ego gets in his way.

He’s a young person still learning his way and under a microscope. I’m sure we all have shit in our early 20s that we would like to take back. I always find it so odd that people get so fired up about the personalities of super young adults and sometimes kids who often time go right from homeschooling to being on television. Everyone here acts like they were born humble. It happens by getting humbled when you do dumb things as you age. People used to say the same about CR22 when he was young and abrasive and now he’s a huge fan favorite. Give these kids time to learn and grow.

I’m seriously not a fan of his and in fact wasn’t rooting for him at SLC, but I think it’s easy to become a target for hate when you’re the fastest guy on Mitch Payton’s team, dating a monster chick. That’s literally every dork on here’s wet dream hence 95% of the hate thrown his way is rooted in jealousy.

Hope he's back and ready to race, the series is much more enjoyable with him around.
