What tires do you run?

I like the Michelin Starcross Soft terrain and Michelin S12 tires.

I have tried the older Dunlop tires (not the newest ones they came out with) but just seem to run through them faster than the Michelin and I feel more comfortable longer on the Michelin tires.

I don't have spare wheel sets or an unending budget for tires so I can't change out the tires depending on the terrain and soil type. I race cross country.

Has anyone used the newer Dunlop tires? How are they holding up and what is the biggest difference from the old model to the newer ones do you notice? Are the new models the MX 32 and 52?

I've always liked the Bridgestone M403/M404 combination; very solid and reliable and hooks up well across a good mix of terrain. I'll have to give their newer X30 a try here pretty soon.

I second this!

I know there are better tires out there, but, it takes 6 months to wear out a 404 on the rear so how can you beat that!!!???

As soon as my front 203 wears out I will give the X30 a go!

Pirelli and Bridgestone are up on my "need to try" list also.

I think one of my buddies was saying the Pirelli's lasted him the longest.

Dunlop MX32 for me. I used to run MX51 rear and MX31 front. The MX32 has excelled in every terrain I have put it in. Anything from deep sand, loom, to hard pack. I have a full season on them and they are showing very little wear on my YZ250 strictly MX.

MX32 wears out way too fast but hooks up great in the softer soils. Starcross I've used a few times and they last great, rear hooks up good on most dirt but the front drifed a little more than I liked.

I'm on Bridgestone x30 and think they are a great overall tires. They hook up well and last too. Give them a try. Your opinion is more important than anyone else. Motosport.com is your friend when purchasing tires. Great prices.

Going to try a MX52 on the rear next. Front will stay MX32 indefinitely.

I only ride once a week so I prefer to be in new soft tires. It usually means 100 bucks more a year not more.

With that said in my area there are some hard pack tracks and others that have hard sections so some soft tires are not an option like the Dunlop 32. I like the Michelin MS the most for the front and in the rear end I don't really feel the diference between brands.

Found some old stock 755's awhile back and bought 3 fronts. Have a mx51 on the rear but thinking I'll try a 32.

I think I'll give the MX32's a shot eventually. That's good to hear that they're much improved. I wasn't too impressed with the 31's. I'm not fast by any means but I know a new tire when I have one one.

NAiled it bro! Michelin s12 front and Starcross MS3 rear.

Especially at 3 palms, they're the best, and last forever.

I dont know if im just a good starter, or my bike is stupid fast, but I have always had great traction on dirt and concrete pads with those tires.

403/404 in winter and 603/604 in the summer. 80/100 fronts, 90's aren't even worth using as track markers.

The Pirelli scorpion midsoft has very good traction front and rear, but the front tires side knobs break off about at the same time the rear tire is worn out, so i always change both. But overall i really like it.

I also like the Michelin ms3, really long lasting tire and very predictable. due to the stiffer sidewalls i run a bit lower pressure In it. But the rear is a bitch to mount Wink

My buddy that got me into racing told me to try the S12's and even when I was much more of a goon that I am now, I could tell a difference. Having said that, I'm always up for trying new tires within reason.

For some reason, I can't convince myself to give Kenda or any of the smaller name tires a chance even though the price is super cheap. I love my Kenda mountain bike tires, but I just haven't heard great reviews on the dirt bike like I have with Dunlop and Michelin.

Use to run s12 for years. Then moved to the starcross's and ran them for a longtime. Tried Dunlops last spring and tore the side lugs off the front tire after a couple hours. Mx31's are good but don't hold up. Back on starcross's

Was off dirt bikes for a few years and racing off road so I tossed on some AT81's and other than being so damn stiff and a bitch to mount I like them pretty well. I ran Pirelli's in the past and were way easier to mount so I might try those after this set.

Any Pirelli users have any issues with the rear knobs cracking/separating at the base of the knob after 2 - 3 rides? The first time it happened i didn't think too much about it but my son came back from a ride the other day and when he was washing the bike, he pointed out to me that this new tire was doing the same thing! I'm thinking I need to contact Pirelli but am curious if this is only happening to me.

They had a bad batch a little over a year ago, i'm not working in the industry anymore, but the customers I ordered them for, hadn't had problems with them for a while.

Pirelli MXMS are great on everything but blue groove. Bridgestone M403/404 is great on everything but sand.

The rear side knobs on the MXMS crack/separate once the tire has about 8 or 9 hours on it on my 250 2-stroke, 110/85-19. I haven't had this issue with the 100/90-19's on my 144's. I haven't had this happen on any of the front tires.

I know the Xtra-X was designed to give better durability but one of the things I really like about the MXMS is they are light weight.

I've pretty much settled on MX32 front and Michelin MH3 rear for so cal. If the track is rutty(like Perris on some Wednesdays), I tend to like the MX52 front better. Sometimes I fight the big side nobs on the 32 in the ruts it seems. I like the MX 32 rear also, but it doesn't last IMO. The MH3 lasts longer, seems to bite as well, and I can get them cheap so they get the nod. I've tried Bridgestones also, but didn't feel they were any better than the Dunlops, so why change. Lots of good feed back here on the Pirellis- may have to give those a shot at some point.

It does pretty good in most conditions, yeah. And even when it's slipping it seems to be pretty predictable so again, no complaints.
