Ohlins fork cartridges and Flow shock.

They were great, although the forks more so (the stock resprung shock was already really good). Of course, on this bike (18 KX450), the forks on my 78 CR probably would’ve been better than the stock SFF-TAC Showas, lol.

Had a WP flying carpet kit for about a year.
Verrrry impressive.
In the end, still needed the money for something more essential, lol.

Haha, I love these stands, have 2 of them. Got them both used and cheap though.

Seems like they rarely worked for us, especially on grass....?

They are more like a dance partner then an inanimate object. Roll the front wheel over, pause a bit, let the stand roll back against the frame, slightly lift on the rear fender while sliding it home........ haha.
They don't work on all bikes ether, depends on frame shape, skid plate and all that. Wet grass they suck but can still use them like a normal stand and just lift it on. I got one for free with a used bike years ago, and the second showed up on kijiji for $30 bucks this winter.

Damn, this is something you need to do as a feature "article"! Nice.

I recently got a Honda CRF450X. I got a Vortex from Twisted Development ($700 w/switch) and a Yoshimura full stainless system($679). On the X the power gains are considerably better than the same mods made to the average MX bike. On the X, there's alll sorts of EPA crap that holds it back and the stock electronics and exhaust are part of that "EPA crap"...there's PLENTY of power hiding inside.

In both cases, I was stoked on the price.

Next up: I'm gonna have Jamie do his magic on the head...there's "a lot of R" hiding in the X.

Cone Valves .... yes they helped, yes they are awesome, are they magical?? maybe... I do think that a well setup AER would be close. That being said , you only live once and they are bad ass and should be transportable to another KTM at the minimum if they don’t change the next gen too much up front!

For my scooter, the Dirtstar Rims, Billet hubs and SS spokes, Laced them myself then but a friend true em and mount fresh tires.

Did it help? Wheels are lighter and the dunlops hook up great! They look awesome too.

DRD header and pipe for 200 bones was the best $ I've spent on it though!

For most aftermarket stuff, I've often found my disappointment is proportal to cost.

Of all the pipes I've run over the years, only the Yoshimura fit properly compared with stock.

I sprang for the power commander 5 and O2 sensor on the 2009 rmz450, it was a pain to program and figure out

A couple come to mind:

327 kit for my ‘01 KX250 taking 66x72mm bore stroke to 74x76mm. Updated the gearbox to an ‘04 gear set too.(a little wider ratios). Completely changed the bike and was the perfect off-road companion.

Most recently bought(last year, 2nd hand) a Yoshimura RS-4 titanium/carbon complete exhaust for my ‘18 RMZ450. Was surprised. Added power and bike felt lighter/more “raceable” throughout entire range on the butt dyno.

Most Expensive: Second Hand cone valves and they are by far the best thing I’ve ever put on my bike. The only thing that even comes to mind is the Bill’s pipe I ran on my 2014 TC250, that thing ripped!

FOX Forks in 81. Wish I still had those. Second was a Vortex ECU for my KTM 500 EXC.

Its hard to place the "most expensive"...I think I will be about $2000 into the suspension when its all said and done...but this was definitely worth it to build my dream RM125. Overall I think I have almost 10k into it...

Most expensive mod I've bought for my 18' RM-Z so far has been the FMF 4.1 RCT slip on. Power gains were great, but I'm super disappointed with how the blue anodized finish has held up. It's already discolored after one ride and has scratches just from roost from the rear tire

Tires hands down always made me better, but on my last bike the WCL mounts made the Honda 250 much better. After that the absolute best part wasnt really a part, but a whole different bike lol

Put Ceriani Forks and Girling Shocks on a 1965 BSA C15 made a new bike with those up grades. Put Straight Cut Primary Gears, a Terry Air Fork kit, a 21" Front Wheel and Modified the foot pegs and moved the axel back and up, made a new bike out of. Same kind of mods to a CZ. Years past and I still have the addiction, however the ROI has diminished. Bikes are so much better and age has it's affect.....still spend to much on my bikes. Why for the love of riding dirt bikesPinchWoohoo
