If rider's are getting hurt because they can't clear the "grand canyon" why not just let them land to flat more often? We saw it in Houston and liked it. Those that can go 100ft let it rip, those that can't don't. No consequences either way.

It's not the jump that gets you, it's all good till the landing.

I think this is a "show" issue.

Without multiples to slow them down over a long section, everyone would scrub the shit out of the jump, or even roll it, and start getting power down. Being in the air is a losing racing proposition, unless it is saving you from an even slower line.

I’ve said this for ages. Anything with a landing ramp dictates the speed of the obstacle and riders (with the marginal exception of being able to scrub better than the next guy). And that creates less opportunities for passing.

Too many jumps, (and especially double/triples) creates worse racing IMO.

Flat landing everything would be brutal on your arms and legs.
Multiple jumps do bring timing into the equation, thus separating riders.

People obviously like this aspect of the sport. There's even an event that is just this aspect.

The most popular thing at that event was the 2 strokes Laughing

Lmao. You can't be serious? You think the racing would be better if every lane just had a one to two single jumps?

It would be drag racing. Bring out the new CRF seven-hundreds.

The thought that goes thru my head when I open a Johnny Depp thread:
"A drug person can learn to cope with things like seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth. But no one should be asked to handle this trip."

Depp questions entrenched aspects of the sport. That's good. We need to improve.

He doesn't always have a workable replacement in mind, but that's a different issue.

Let me try to understand this.....3 weeks ago we needed to fix triples with either an escape lane or just turning the 2nd & 3rd jumps into a table....the next week we needed staggered starts because those first turns are just too dangerous and messed up the racing....this week we're just going to flat land...WTH will it be next week??

Maybe we let them build the tracks, sell the tickets to fill up the stadiums and just let the riders stand on a stage and play the SX video game on the big screens....FFS...

All sand, just sand jumps, sand whoops, sand berm, sand podium, sand ricky carmichael, sand castles. Sand = soft.

We need more ramps, way more rythm sections, with steeper ramps that slow the pace. The tracks are easy, that's why there are 15 guys on the same second instead of 3. The top guys to rise to the top have to send it and scrub it like maniacs and that's what causing so many injuries.

Feld wants stuff happening, entertainment, carnage, not a "Stewart" doing magic.

Go test this; jump your equally capable Beta XC bike to the verified 93 foot quad from this weekend to flat and tell us how that works out for ya...

"It's not the jump that gets you"

The bike and riders reaction to the take off is what got Ken Roczen at Monster Cup in late '16 and A2 in early '17.

Amazing how everybody piles on. The OP has a point. Not saying tracks should be littered with giant singles but they sure have gotten stale. Look at the sand section last weekend. That one idea made for some of the most creative riding of the evening. Feld should really think outside the box at a few rounds.

I mean, a Beta won the +60 class once....So it is clearly a viable MX weapon.

is this guy serious? Dude needs to lay off the meth. It was a rhythm section, different ways to get threw it. No one said you had to quad it. Everyone knows the risk involved before pulling the trigger on a section. you want to do a combo that is faster so you can get that edge, however if someones doing it and you are not then, yes its slower but you gotta weigh it all out. flat landing hurts and would be way worse lot more people hurt and crashes everywhere because there is nothing to seperate the field out.
