Not trying to be a dick, but can I ask how you ended up with a bike without knowing what it is? If you saw a deal that was too good to pass up, it may be stolen. The spray painted shrouds, seat, and rear fender would be cause for concern, IMO.

You’re correct. Virtually no difference between 02-04.

Right, and other than the aluminum subframe and plastics there really is no difference '98-'04.

Thats a Polyzuki KRX-275, I had one back in the day. Comes with a red powerband and a JKL whipple injection unit. Some say the inverse reactor bearings go bad in the pretty quick but I never had to replace mine. Just keep an eye on the coaxial torque limiter and she'll be good to go

Your dad exchanged his car for a dirt bike and he didn't know what brand, model or year it was?

The 98-2001 have 6 gears and are much heavier than the 02-04 (At least it feels like it when lifting it up on the stand.) Apart from the Subframe and plastics, the frame, forks and wheels are different too.

The 2002-2004 are also 5 speed and have minor differences from year to year. I know the rear brakes changed at some point, and I believe carried over to the 05.

Cylinders, pistons, etc... are interchangeable between the 98-04 but different part numbers last time I looked. The power valve linkage is a different length though.

Did you not think to google the VIN?
And what would that have done for him? Its amazing how smart you think you are.

Good chance it would have told him what the bike is.

Dirt bike VINs decode pretty easily

Good chance it would say no search results found.
