I see a family racing with their two kids. This would not be a big deal but they lost one of their children in a horrific mx accident a few years back. As a parent why would you take that chance again? They already had one DIE! Not sure if they are stupid or just do it for themselves thinking "oh well we have more racer to try to make the "Big Time"

Or maybe they are passionate about it and very well, as anyone else that races/rides moto, understand the inherent danger associated with this sport.

People lose family members in car accidents. Do they quit driving?

I can see reasons to stop riding/racing AND continue riding/racing in these situations.

For one, it maybe a way to persevere the families memory of the one they lost. I really doubt it's about making it to the "big time".

Every time one of us throws a leg over our bike could be our last.
Riding in somebody's honor is as good as it gets.

Except that their children assume the potential risk of injury/death, not the parents on the sideline.

He went out doing something he loved, how many people have that same fate? If the family loves being involved in the sport it is nobody's business but their own.

Think the kid that died loved it so much that he didnt want them to stop riding even something that bad happened. If I died doing something i love. I would like my brother to keep on doing it. Even its a haaard choice for a parent.

And yet YOU still ride knowing the potential for injury.

How about you live your life how you want and let everyone else live theirs. I have NEVER met anyone that knows whats best for me................Except ME!!!!!!

Legitimate question despite filled with some obvious frustration, but I think I get what's on your mind. To bad no answer will justify the complexity though, there's no true way. I think I get some of the angles. What get's me a bit more worked up, is when people lose their kids in war overseas. Sure many will feel it's worth fighting for etc, and I don't want to go into that debate because people get all defensive, feel it's worth it. But in those cases, having one kid dead in Afghanistan or whatever, I would feel pretty anxious keeping the other one safe home flipping burgers locally or whatever. But that's just me.

My thoughts are with the family, can't imagine the horror.

If the kid wants to be part of the sport the parents need to provide the support, and on lookers should stay out of their business.

I'd say this.....pretty much says it all.

I guess it's how a person's family functions. Some would walk away forever.....and some would say "We aren't giving up".

You would have to be in that certain families shoes before you start casting any blame towards their decisions.

And honestly.....it's none of your business.

Calling them stupid for continuing to race is like calling every other Motocrosser stupid. We know the risks, bud.

Once my paraplegic child can twist the throttle again I am getting back out their. YOU GUYS HAVE as usual have made me look at the right thing to do. Like most 8 year olds he know what he wants to do and I as a parent will back it. I mean why step in and be a PARENT.

Thanks guy’s (I really mean idiots)

The fact that you felt the need to post this thinking you might not get the negative reaction you did proves who the real idiot is. The point is just further hammered home by your bad grammar and nearly incomprehensible response.

I'm fairly new to this forum, and im not sure if this is the first thread ever, but this is definitely the first thread that i've seen that is actually too stupid for the dumbgeon.

Everybody on this website knows the dangers and the risks of this fine sport that we all enjoy and are willing to accept that, if you think that one kid dieing should stop his brother from riding, then why do you still ride?

It's a passion, and if somebody is that passionate about something, nothing is going to stop them. No matter what their parents or anybody else says.

And it could also be something like bubba and t haynes, like he wants to do this as a tribute to his bro.

But, that's just my two cents.

I think a post like this is low class and totally disrespects the parents involved, it's not your business unless you are related some how.
