I'm getting pretty damn frustrated with some of MXA's inflammatory propaganda. A story heading on their site right now reads, "When they talk about the GOAT-it's really "The Man" they are referring to." As much respect as I have for DeCoster, having a heading like that for a story seems like they just want to make people mad. Roger himself would probably take exception to them calling anyone but Carmichael the GOAT. Anyone else want to chime in on this? Sorry, but I just had to vent my thoughts on this one.

MXA is a damn tabloid. I think they’ve lost all credibility a while ago.

They are spot on. Its DeCosters birthday today and DeCoster has done more to grow the sport of motocross than RC by a country mile. And not just RC. All other human beings living or dead for the last 40 years.

Its a generational thing....at least his signed his name to it......Still think their bike test are the best, will be interesting to see how they rate the bikes compared to Vital

Its funny that mountainbike action gets the same flak from an entirely different audience.

Hahaha, my bad man. That certainly wasn't my intention. Part of my frustration is due I guess to being so disappointed with a lot of their opinions, and statements. But I am glad I'm not alone in this.

Let's make this clear as well; GOAT as it's used in this context is referring to the greatest motocross racer of all time, not the greatest promoter, ambassador, or personality. I wish DeCoster a happy birthday by all means, and he certainly is probably the greatest ambassador the sport has ever had. However, as far as racing achievements are concerned, I would have to put even Stefan Everts ahead of Roger. I will not argue over this anymore because the argument was settled, oh I guess right around the time RC retired, and has been rehashed way too many times in the forum already.

hate to agree with Squirellings.... but it is true. The Man is DeCoster and The GOAT is RC...plain and simple and two different accolades. Oh yeah...MXA is nothing special these days.

Well, I mean, technically nowhere in the MXA snippet do they label DeCoster the GOAT. They refer to him as both the greatest motocross racer of all time (GMROAT) and "The Man."

So, yes, Carmichael is still the GOAT.

MXA is the gold standard. Get over it. Carmichael is the GOAT but MXA is entitled to their opinion, just like the rest of us. Take a chill pill. If you hate them, go read Trans World or Racer X. Not a big deal.

I think McGrath is the goat more wins and more championship. He has even said it before he doesn't like that name for RC.

he doesn't like the name because it wasn't bestowed upon him...still has his ego. RC is the GOAT, hands down.

Please read the article again. Nothing they say is in regards to who has the most wins. Just the 50+ years of contribution to the sport.

This very forum would not exist if not for DeCoster.

RC would have wet his pants trying to get past an armed border guard into the motherland. Besides, Aldon wouldn't have trusted RC with the whiskey to bribe the guards with.

Laughing You people and all of your MXA posts. Beginning to think it's more popular than Vital.Laughing

No joke, you can see the butthurt on McGraths face in any interview where they compare him and RC. No need for it either, Jeremy's SX win record will likely never be beat. Even James Stewart, THE FASTEST MAN ON THE PLANET!!!, came up waaaayyyyy short on that one.

McGrath schooled the world on the art of SX and continued to elevate the status of the sport beyond Smith, Hannah and Johnson. Amazing stuff and glad I was able to witness it for all those years. RC, Stewart, Dungey and Villopoto were all greats themselves but McGrath had them all covered in the "Showtime" category.

Gentlemen,

At the end of the day...

Both Ricky and Jeremy would yield and say Roger really is "The Man" & if that means he's "The GOAT" as declared by MXA?

They'd BOTH say,"O.K. I'm fine with that. Respect. Thank you, Roger, for all you've done for our sport."

Get this: they're BOTH respectful of Roger. They both know who's who in this game.

Let’s see what RC is doing into his 70’s. I can’t argue with MXA on this one

One rider dominated on both sides of the pond and the other dominated National series. One did it during the day of 45 min moto and no trainers. Roger had little support at the start when the other was bred to be a champion as soon as he was out of diapers. One continued into the sport to this day and also spent a lot of his time with the MXDN teams for a country that wasn’t his own. MXA is old school and they have every right to express their opinion on who made and is still making a bigger impact in the sport

I’m sorry but i have to disagree. MXA may not be the most accurate publication but they’re at least loosely affiliated with reality and somewhat concerned with disseminating fact based information which is more than i can say for a certain fear mongering proganda machine I won’t name...
