I was moving stuff around in my garage and came across an old 86 Paul Turner CR250 pipe and it got me to thinking...what happened to him? At the time he seemed to be becoming the hot engine tuner. Of course there was no up to the minute internet back then. Anyone know what happened to him and his business?

Cool...thanks! Seems like a pretty big step back from where it looked like he was going in the 80's.
...but as long as he's happy then life is good!

I guess I'm missing what you're asking 'really' about.

Turner made his name as the engine builder for Team Hondas ATV team in the mid 80s. After Honda folded the team ,I think Turner got into mtn bikes for awhile.

I remember that...that's why I was wondering what happened to him. Being in with factory Honda, it seemed like he was on the path to become a prominent builder. Good to hear he's still in the sport.

You sure about that?

He might be, but after Honda folded the ATV effort, he became the founder of Rock Shox, and a few other MTB related business and had quite a bit of success...

The Paul Turner you are asking about is not the one who is Weinens mechanic. Paul before he founded Rock Shox had Paul Turner Racing in Santa Cruz and built parts and pipes for ATV's. Paul went on to reinvent mtn bike suspension as we know it now. He then founded Maverick bikes and designed suspension for that brand. Paul now lives in Maui and owns a bike park on his own land.

Thanks. I knew Paul a bit when he was doing Rock Shox, but didn't know what he was up to these days.

Correct...Paul "junior" Turner the mechanic for Weinen is not the 80's ATV tuner / Rox Shox creator.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to make a comment. I just picked up a cylinder for my 88 RM 125 on ebay, and it had "Paul Turner" hand engraved into the cylinder! That should be kind of awesome, right?!?

They closed the bike park earlier this year, having people riding all around your house 7 days a week probably was a better dream than a reality. He has a nice place to play now. V Below V

Dave Turner is also a former moto guy.

Almost done with a Turner Cyclosys singlespeed cyclocross bike. I wish he'd update the Czar a bit, it's getting dated.
