Wrecked into the banners on the back straight after where James landed on RC.

Hit Barcia when Barcia was flopping around on the track then crashed by himself and was shown holding his arm.

BS, he was not wrong and I think Russell even exceeded expectations.. Had he not gone down, he would've earned max points - and really blown peoples wigs back with a solid Top 10.. Very interested to see how he fairs in normal track conditions the rest of the season

Is he okay? He went down hard and appeared to be holding his arm/elbow. Was definitely rooting for him and hope to see him at Budds!

He was running 3rd in the first moto also. Bet he is kicking himself, couldn't have asked for better conditions for him, but it just didn't work out as best as it could have

THIS unfortunate crash late in moto 1 cost him a podium.

12th fastest in Timed Practice, 6th place in first moto, almost a podium, and 13th overall is really awesome, great ride !!!
Any idea why Kailub Russell got to ride "A Group" 450cc practice, since it was his first AMA National? Can a manufacturer, or Factory Team, like Red Bull KTM, quash standard rules and protocol? ~ moderator, please don't cut me.....

It's a completely subjective decision. If you are on the good side with the decision makers, they tend to look after you.

Watch the race and you will find out!
Here on Vital, we often get more details than we do on the broadcast.

Hope KR is alright. Looked to be in quite a bit of pain.

Fyi, off road racing is not similar to wet motocross.

Factory Riders get a one race pass to participate in the A Practice after coming back from injury etc. if they do not perform to A practice standard they will be relegated back to B practice.

He belonged in A practice.

I thought he did awesome. If not for that late tip over in Moto one he would have been top three.

I know that everyone were having their own issues and that’s part of it but to all the guys questioning his speed/abilities/fitness... where they at now? He qualified 12th on a dry track, ran 3rd and was well inside the top 10 again in the second moto. Hope he is alright, wondered how he went down in the straight rut but after seeing he lost his rear brake, that made sense. Those guys would be dragging the brake in a section like that to keep tracking straight. Hope to see him again next week.

A race like this isn't great to use as a barometer either way. He looked to be doing great, but with the conditions it could be a completely different story in a "dry" race, like most of them are.

Either way, he's probably got as much bike control skill as any rider on the line, so he could be competitive at just about anything with a little bit of practice. I think if I could magically have the talent of any racer, I'd pick a guy like Russell to copy. Guy can ride at a high level in just about any discipline, I'd bet. I wouldn't be surprised if he could spend a few months on a trials bike and do things that would just shock the average person. What a gift, combined with what is probably dogged work to perfect his talents!

After watching him at a GNCC and in these conditions I would not have been surprised with him on the podium.

Freak run in with Barcia falling took away him willing the Moto.
