I remember a while ago that the 20 inch front tire was the new thing on MX bikes. Something about taking the harshness out of the ride and bigger contact patch for traction but then it just seemed to fade away as fast as it showed up. What happened that caused people to switch back?

My guess is that they couldn't get other tire manufactures on board.

The advent of the /90 front tire made the 20 inch front no longer needed. The 90 gave you the same cush as the 20 but still had the bite and didn't wallow.

That and the tire companies never really got on board..I had one on my 02 YZ250 and sold it with the rim on it. Wonder whomever owns it now has on it?

honda was really pushing it as a fix for the "new" AF frames, yamaha was the only other manufacturer to try it, it went the way off the single radiator...

Larocco used a 20" wheel quite a bit in SX.

I have 3 20" dunlop 756 that I'll sell real cheep. Hell I'll give them away. just pay shipping. I got them by accident then got hurt and by the time I relized what they were Dunlop couldn't take them in return.

Bingo.

Once you try a 90/100-21, you realize the 20" front is obsolete.
