Personally, I never throw a leg over someone else's scoot. If I had the money to replace the broken parts on his...I'd have A-kit on mine. Plus, if I break his...it takes time to repair which keeps him from riding. That creates resentment.

I will admit...I've passed up some really badass rides that I wouldn't have minded twisting the grip off of.

I'm headed to a buddy's house tomorrow. He has a fully tricked KTM 350 and a track on property. Gonna be real hard to say, NO.Pinch

99.9% of the time I say yes. I ride at the upper end of “being in control” to where I’m getting around decent but not setting myself up for something stupid.

I always like riding other bikes, super fun to compare and contrast on the same day/track to see how bikes react. It’s always fun doing a moto or two on someone’s 450 and then getting back on the 125.

100%

There’s been several guys that have ridden my “tricked out” 350 and love it. 4 of the guys have ended up buying one for themselves.

Ride the bike!

I only ride the guys bike if I know its safe. And I dont ride to my 100%. But when they ask if I want to ride it, they already know how I ride and what im capable of. Rode some sweet bikes that way and its good to try something different. Gets expensive doing the trial and error approach lol

Also wont ride someones brand new bike until they put it down. Im not gonna be the first guy to do it on someone elses bike.

When I was 14 or so I blew up my YZ125 in practice and Vital's own dirtbikemike kindly offered me his KX500 to race. The correct answer was obviously no thanks, but my Dad answered for me. I became a man that day.

I have only done quick rides on areas where a fall wouldn't do major damage. Once rode a YZ125 with so much piston slap that I putted around for 5 minutes hoping it wouldn't blow on me. Or a bike that shifted like it had no oil in the trans. I am close to riding a friend's KX250, but just in a backyard woods loop.

Forgot I used a buddy’s pristine and stock 1985 CR250 half a season when he broke his leg. Raced the 125 and 250 novice classes aka C class. Helped me make amateur aka B class quicker. Guess the mind is slipping.

If asked I strap on a helmet and ride and I always ask my friends if they would like to ride mine.

i am lucky to have been able to ride other people's bikes for a very long time, and never once have i worried about falling off them.

And i am happy to loan stuff out... its a bike , its will get ridden, it will get crashed, it will blow up. Who is on it at the time, is irrelevant IMO.

I always take the opportunity to ride other bikes, and let people ride mine too, its how you learn.

Ha, I bet you never wanted to ride one again after that day. I went straight to a KX500 from a KX80 when I was around 15 and raced it for years, had a love/hate relationship with it. Borrowed a buddy’s RM125 for a moto and I immediately realized I had been doing everything the hard way.

I swap bikes with buddies all the time, no big deal. You tend to just dial it back a bit to not wreck anything.

This is why I bought mine, and a couple friends bought their own after riding it

To answer OP’s question, it depends on the person, how well I know them, and their bike. I’ll do it if the bike’s in good shape, knowing I’ll plan to take it easy, and replace anything I potentially damage. If they don’t take care of their stuff, it’s a no

I hear you champion….. I seen my old man take the first ride of my uncle’s brand new 93 CR500, just a quick lap around the farm he reckons while the uncle geared up…….dad returned 30 minutes later with a CR500 that had a bent subframe, exhaust and handlebars. 😂

I will always ride the bike unless I know its a piece of shit and I won't like it. If I crash it and break it I pay for repairs but I don't ride right on the limit, just enough to get a feel for it at a decent pace.
I offered a guy in the pits $20 to ride his yz450f after hating my crf450 so much. He declined the $20 but suggested we swap bikes for a session. 2 days later I bought a yz450f

Ride it and avoid the bigger jumps. I always offer my bike up also. I like to try as many bikes as I can so if someone offers it I wont pass that up.

If you have riding buddies and you dont swap bikes once in a while I just find that odd. You can learn quite a bit from mixing it up.

Took 2 laps on a buddy's brand new 150SX a few months ago. Huge mistake... I had way too much fun.

If it belongs to someone in my close circle, I'll have a go. I just won't push it anywhere near as hard as I would my own. If it is someone I don't know all that well, or someone that is known for not taking care of maintenance etc, I'll decline.
