I ride a conversion af that I built last year and raced it at Mammoth. tons of fun and tons of power!
05 crf 250 chassis with an 85 cr500 motor.
Every time I ride it it makes me glad I built it and at the same time humbles me.
Cheers, Pat
Well done! (and nice form)

I had a '91 CR500 back then and loved it. A 500AF is VERY tempting.

2010 TM 250 MX. Only one ride on it so far, need a few changes, heavier spring, my own numbers, but man it feels good being back on a smoker.

Mine already had the 144 when I bought it, so I never got to ride it stock for an actual comparison. It does have decent hit on the bottom end, but how much better or worth it, I really don't know. The last 125 I rode before I bought this one was 10 years ago so I'd hate to even try to compare the two with such a long time between rides

Well I ride our CRF50 the most but I do have a 2005 YZ125, a 1973 Husqvarna CR250 and a 2011 HD Wide Glide. Oh and a Gary Fisher Paragon 29er.

Nothing...at the moment.

Sold 'em all, but the next one's probably gonna be another '96 Honda CR250 restoration. Maybe in a year.

The forest service won't let them race in AF/Diamond Fork/Spanish Fork/Hobble Creek...of course, I'm not sure if anyone has asked about holding an endure format there (like the Idaho City 100). For a traditional Hare and Hound or Hare scramble there would be no way of doing the start (no place for a bomb run)...but an endure format might work if one of the clubs wanted to jump through all the hoops to try and get approval (the enduro format is the only way they got a race in Chimney Rock down in the San Rafael Swell....the BLM said No to the bomb runs but approved the endure).

Lots of dust in the desert, no way around that (unless its raining, then its muddy). And so for the most part (whether its st George, Cherry Creek, Monticello, Knolls or Wendover)...you get a lot of dust, its the nature of the beast if you're racing in the desert.

You might try some of the spring and fall races...in the past few years, there have been great conditions at these events (so like Feb-April, and Sept-Nov) with little dust.

The enduro's that I know of, are Wendover and Chimney Rock. They ran an endure on private property up in Yost last year which was an absolute BLAST, but that race was replaced by a NHHA so its not happening this year. I've heard a rumor that St. George might be an endure, but I have no idea if that is true or not.

I love the enduro's...but I also love the hare and hound format as well (anything were you never ride the same trail twice). I'm not a fan of GP's and Hare Scrambles as the courses get hammered from a few hundred riders riding the same trails a bunch of times..
I figured it was a BLM issue, but racing between the trees would be so much better than open desert (opinion, but my opinion).

I need to go do Idaho City; it seems to creep up so fast for some reason, and throws me off.

Last winter I went down to Chimney Rock a couple times - very cool area for what it is (and seemingly secretive for some reason) - we did some exploring further south of there and found some awesome petroglyphs and insane views. '

Yep, the enduro format sounds fun - I assume its the newer style Qualifier-style NEPG enduro format? I will try like hell to hit Chimney Rock - I can't imagine Wendover could be all that great, but I'll look into it.

The GP in Mesquite - that has to end up a hammered mess. I did the WORCS race there when I lived in Vegas and it sucked. Huge whoops for miles on end and it wasn't fun at all. I wish we were closer to Montana events - that race I did last year was epic. I built an enclosed trailer last year just for traveling and getting back into racing, but with kids, work and lack of time, it didn't happen yet. But like I said, mountain biking is a new passion and I freakin' love it - its really hard to balance the two.

If I end up hitting some of these, I'll let you know so we can meet up. What class do you ride?
