What do you mean by "the sport"?

The professional side of it? SX? MX? Weekend warriors at local tracks (that is the sport in my mind)?

I think lower speeds is always better, especially from an injury side of things.

More room for error. Less do perfectly within half an inch or die obstacles.

Slower speeds would result in less severe injuries and might tighten up racing.

Higher speed, less technicality is great for supercross to draw the non riding fan. Watching a bike go 60mph over 100 foot triples makes much better viewing, especially for those who don't understand or appreciate the slower, more technical sections. The downside is when things go wrong the go wrong big.

I'd say slower, more technical tracks are better for rider health which in turn will help participation at all ages but particularly the junior levels. Less patents will let their kids ride when people are constantly getting carted off the track with severe injuries.
I guess it depends if you want to grow the sport through spectators or competitors

What tha !!!! Slower speed?!!! Go ride trials if you want slower speeds; technical & fast my man. :-)

I have a CR500 and I like using top gear.

If you're talking about outdoors, how about no dozers, no powered equipment to make the track at all, and the only real track building tools are the hammers to drive in the track markers.........?

Some tracks would be fast, some slow.

At least for Supercross, I'd say higher speeds and less technical. Technical tracks spread the field out too much and make for less competitive racing.

The poll results are backwards. Sx is slower and more technical and people get hurt. Moto is faster and less technical. But everyone votes that SX is better, yet posts on vital that MX is better. Idk........

Great question! It will be interesting to hear the different definitions of technicality on a track.
From my experience a faster track usually turns into a rougher track,bigger breaking bumps,sharper square edge etc.

If you do, then your earlier response was a bit silly. Some of us are old enough to have been racing on those machines before they were considered vintage........

I think for both pro and weekend warrior level it should be lower speed more technical riding. I think the biggest deterrent for people getting into moto is injuries. The less people get hurt, the more people will ride, IMO
