On average I spend about 16 hrs a week in motorcycle boots, so when deciding what boots I put my feet into is a big decision. On the other side of things I can’t tell you how many times I have had to throw away perfectly good boots because the soles were worn out. I’ve been using Sidi boots for 3 years now and wanted to share with the advantages of a high end boot that can be refurbished yourself.

Well, probably not a lot of people like you who put in that much hours every week. I have fox instincts and my soles hardly wear. Just don't put on razor sharp pegs

Awesome write up! We have an awesome selection of these boots (in gently used condition) on our website (www.usedmxboots.com)

No sir I’m not. I actually wrote this after a few of my friends were upset that their boots looked perfect and were worn out and I never had mentioned to them about the advantages of the replacement soles on Sidi’s

Thanks anyways, but seeing as though Sleeter prolly gets free stuff from Sidi I'll go with a more unbiased opinion. Keefer recently mentioned on Pulp not long ago about a boot shootout. Ill listen to Keefer and not someone posting on vital to advertise a sponsor

Nice write up.

I've been wearing Sidi for 3 years now. Best boots I've ever owned by far. I won't even take them off between motos if its not to hot because they are so comfortable.

I still wear my Gaernes from 2009. I have replaced the soles on them, granted, they are SIDI soles.

I'm too cheap to justify spending the money on new SG10's or 12's... even at dealer cost.

Gaerne's, but their "cheapest" offering. Just an old woods guy, but I love mine.
They have been subject to a lot of swampy, stagnant water and still hold up.

Fit is so important, if they don't fit you must acquit, or something like that.

For my duck like feet, the Gaerne's fit great, wear great look great. 10/10.
I can't even get my feet in a pair of Alpinestars without crying, they are for narrow/normal feet I guess.

Best set of boots I've ever owned were the Fox Forma Pro's from like 2003-2004 ish when they had the special edition ones for James with the zebra stripe on the inside. Not because of the color but the boot itself.

Best feel and flex on a bike I've ever experienced by a long shot. I still look for new old stock but can't find any in a size 12

Right now I have Tech 6's and they're not bad but nothing fit like those Forma Pro's

I'm hard on boots. A pair a year for me. I've been wearing the the latest Alpinestars Tech 7 since their redesign. Light, super comfy, zero break in time. I just chunk soles really quick (only on my left boot) Normally at around the 2-4 hour mark. I have to shoe goo the sole every ride thereafter. I'd make a good test mule for any boot manufacturer wanting to test durability! (or media)

All my boots last 20 hours on stock pegs. Doesn't matter the brand. Tech10, Gaerne, Fox. Not everyone is the same.

I don't think it's politically acceptable to goose step in boots anymore.

SG12's. They fit my feet better than Sidis which would be my second option. Alpinestars soles don't last for crap. They have an excellent marketing machine, however...................

Tech 10s, mainly for the inner booty comfort with a fused ankle and plenty of Metal still in it

Instinct Offroad. They are the best boots I've owned. I always bitched about the slippery no traction of the regular instinct soles. When fox came out with the offroad model I gotta boner, even tho I'm pure moto. Same boot but a way nicer sole and a little more toe protection. This is probably the most overlooked boot on the market today and alota people are missing the boat imo. Also, fox can replace soleson instincts as long as it's not worn completely through.

I like gaerne RX-1 boots, inexpensive and last long, the reason I like them is the weight, very light and easy on my knees, would like to get a high end boot but my knees swell

Sidi is great but the reality is they just don’t fit everyone’s feet. I’ve tried them 3 times now and can never get them to work. I’ve owned them all, Sidi, Gaerne, A Star, Forma, TCX. I keep going back to Instincts. I have 3 pairs and just got a pair resoled. They fit the best, are pretty light and super comfy. Never had a foot or ankle related injury yet in them. Customer support is top notch and I normally get pretty much new boots from pros who run them for a few races.

Gaernes SG-12's for me. This is my first set of them and on track I like them a great deal. Off track not so much, they hurt just above my ankles to stand or walk in. Like leave bruising kind of hurt. I went with them over the Tech 10's based off what I was reading about on the Tech 10's and ankle support vs. the SG-12's and the buckles and soles on the Tech 10's being on the junk side. I would like to get a set of Tech 10's to see for myself how they are, but maybe once I wear these Gaernes out or stumble across a smoking deal on them.

I'm going Gaerne next time. I like that the toe box is much thinner top to bottom. They also fit my boat paddle feet better than anything i ever tried on.

I picked Fox Instincts cause I figured most companies top offerings should all be very good and the price was best on the Instincts so that's what I picked. They needed zero break in they were comfortable with great feel right from the first time I put them on and swung my leg over the bike. Not bad in the weight department either. I've had them since August and ride 1-2 times a week and have no issues with excessive or premature wear so far. Hoping to run them through 2019 and I'll be plenty satisfied.
