He's kicking butt on the 18 right now. Does he switch to the 19, do some testing, and race it in the MXdN or does he stay on the 2018 weapon he's comfortable on and save the 19 for the monster energy cup?

EDIT: Let me clarify, Im asking if anyone knows for a fact. I would vote they stay on the 18 but wonder if kaw will make him start testing and race the 19. If I wanted opinions I could start a poll haha.

He's gonna ride bike number 25...(Marvin's number)

I seem to remember Matthes saying he would be riding the 2019? He may have been talking about the Monster Cup and I am mistaken but I believe that is what he said.

Hopefully that doesn’t slow him down

He'll be riding the same bike he is on right now, possibly with a different exhaust.

If that's the case it's a guarantee that he will try his best!

Would be a good question at the presser after they announce the team this weekend. Rather than him just say “Yes”, I’d like to hear “I’m already 2 seconds a lap faster on the test track..”. Whistling

Opinion: Which ever he likes better at the time. He'll have had some time on the '19 by then and could probably race it if all goes well. My guess is Kawi would prefer that, but only if he's more comfortable on it.

I would be shocked if he raced the 18. If he did, he would be behind the 8-ball when it comes to testing the 19.

"19 at both MXON and Green Claw Cup is the playground rumor.

EDIT: Meant to quote Gibby.

My guess is if he keeps building his points lead he will run the 2019 the last couple rounds of the Nationals to get some race time on the 2019. Definitely on the 19” for MXoN.

I can't help but feel like the chances of struggling with the '19 are way greater than the chances that he actually gains any advantage from it.. except the electric start.. that's definitely worth something, but not enough to make me wish he wasn't sticking to what he's already so dialed with.

I mean I understand why they want him racing the new bike; but I still don't like it...

Maybe he is riding it already and likes the way it feels? I mean I am sure he had something to do with the design of the 19. I get what you are saying though, riding it and racing it are two different things.

I seem to recall a guy named Villopoto doing reasonably well on a new model Kawi. As long as it took for Tomac to gel with the current model I could see him doing very well on the '19. I wonder if he had much influence on the frame geometry or feel of the bike?

Agree. I think he would do better riding a bike he is 100% comfortable on. But from a logistical/prepping for 2019 viewpoint, it makes sense to start testing and racing the '19 model as soon as possible
