A buddy sent me a picture of what looks like a 1994 cr250 and a yz125. Yz looks like a 2001. He said 1800 for both but didn’t give me much more info. I’m not a bike build guy, but some of you are. What do you think?

It depends. You going to restore them or ride them?

I’d offer $1500 for both, then try to dump the YZ off to the highest bidder. But that is only because I am actively looking for a CR to restore.

I don’t want them even if he gave them to me. I just didn’t know what to tell him. It looks like too much time and money to be worth anything

$1800 for both is a steal, I wish they were close to Colorado and I would buy them in a heartbeat. Cool

I agree, the price is right and is a great opportunity for anyone looking for projects.

You won't lose 1 cent, and it is a steal if both are running, which i would bet is the case after a gas oil plug change + carb cleaning as both look in good shape except some cosmetics (big cleaning, plastics, graphics, the tank can be restored).

Both bikes don't have much frame wear (less than 1 season racing), and from the picture it looks like the YZ's pegs are not much used. With some stock stickers and what it looks like an ignition cover with also little wear, I would bet $50 bucks the YZ is a low hour bike with a cylinder that is still in A. With a bit of cosmetics it is probably worth more than 2k. (EDIT: and it is one of the best 125 ever made)

And a 250 CR 94 is also one of the best 250 ever made, it is bullet proof and pretty good collector, the price will only keep increasing. Don't pass it, with a bit of plastics and possibly a good pipe now or in a few years that bike will be worth more than 3k (more or less the same as a 3 or 5 years old 4 stroke). The price willl just take the same trend as the 500, not as much of course but it will remain strong.

So a good invest, to keep it and possibly to sell it one day if you really need money. A good thing would be to find some windham and mcgrath fox gear in good shape on ebay from these years, cheap now, impossible to find at a good price in 10 years.
