I've never seen a VIOLENT PELVIC THRUST like Mookie does at the 6 second mark off the gate. I realize he's probably catching a gear but I've not seen such a forward/backwards movement/pelvic thrust as depicted. It can't be for traction as keeping his weight back down the entire straight would provide the most traction. It's a very deliberate act that has me puzzled.

Seriously though, it does appear to coincide with up-shifting. Probably starts in 2nd then hip-thrusts that bitch all the way into 5th before the first corner.
I also wonder if Mookie feels that by shifting his weight forward, it takes enough load off of the rear wheel/chain/sprocket to shift into the next gear a little easier.
You have to hump the bike between 6 and 9 times.
