Ken leaves HRC rides for a privateer Honda team that’s supported by Honda and act as Australian HRC team

Honda isn’t losing anything here as a brand the race team in Honda US loses but… Honda US supports the firepower team something doesn’t seem right about the situation and totally weird….

Like has been mentioned here before, Feld is like the PGA tour and WSX is like LIV golf. American Honda is backing Feld's series and they don't want one of their premier guys racing in a competing series.

Some say he's going to sign back with Honda US once he's done with WSX. Sort of like parts ways until he gets those 2 races finished.

Why is that? It kind of makes sense. US Honda keeps their involvement OUT of WSX, Kenny will still be on bascially the same equipment for the 2 races. After its over. Honda still needs a 450sx guy, so they resign Kenny.

There's way more to this story than any of know.

Who is Honda going to hire for a SX only fill in ride?

Honda Genuine Parts is an Australian race team, with no involvement from US Honda or their US-based title sponsor Firepower. No different than if he would have signed with the Honda NILS team.

not even close.

There is literally no reason for any major manufacturer to support a series that is operating in the same markets where they are already getting plenty exposure from the GPs. Unless WSX gets some crazy mainstream TV package there will be little support from the OEMs.

Kenny and his agent chased a big check (which they have full right to do) and it bit him in the ass. He wanted to make half a million in a couple weekends plain and simple. Honda, who has nothing to gain by spending money to go race two races that don't matter, can park the bike for 6 months and save 750k. Both parties are acting in the best interest of their wallets.

not even close huh?

here is honda's offical response to Ken claiming he has no ride for 23.

“We genuinely enjoy working with Ken and have loved having him on our team for the past six years. We have a ton of respect for the speed and talent he regularly demonstrates on the track, and even more so for the heart and dedication he has shown in returning from severe setbacks. In light of recent comments, we felt the need to clarify a couple of points. We were looking forward to continuing with Ken in 2023, and we recently made him an offer of a contract extension. That offer has never been rescinded, but it was declined by Ken and his team. It’s true that the offer included a stipulation that Ken not compete in a series that has positioned itself as a direct competitor to our Supercross and motocross racing partners. We feel it’s important to support our racing partners and to treat all of our riders the same. That said, our esteem and appreciation for Ken are as strong as ever, and they won’t be altered by the fact that our priorities don’t happen to align on this issue.”

Going over seas to make maybe 400-500k(that doesn't include subtracting expenses) is not even close to what he's losing by not riding for Honda in 23 SX.

No factory rider in their right mind would lose a Factory ride to make a couple hundred thousand is some overseas races filled with retired and 2nd string riders.

It does when money isn’t your only motivator. He might also have something lined up with another team that combined with his WSX money could be more than HRC was offering. Remember HRC said they wanted him SX only and he was pretty clear that he wanted to do MX too.

Ken and AC are the two biggest wastes of money in the sport at the moment. AC is made of glass and Ken hasn't been healthy since he came back from the arm surgeries. Ken in recent years creates a lot of drama and hype in the off season only to either quit or be a non-factor by mid season. His whole IG rant last spring was in bad taste and like always his actions didn't back up his words. Commence the down votes Cool

Honda probably offered him 350-500k with an injury clause and bonuses for podium only. Add that to his wsx money and he figured he could clear a million without having to win a race.

It's not about just walking away from that honda money. WSX probably had a clause that if he backed out of his commitment he'd have to pay them a pretty penny.

Chase, Eli, Jason, and Kenny. The only 4 riders that won races in both SX and MX in 2022. You can’t seriously be comparing him to AC. Social media and personality aside, he absolutely is still an elite level rider.

Your high AF if you think Honda only offered Kenny 350k to ride SX lol. There's mid-pack satellite team riders that make more than that to ride SX.

Sorry, quoted the wrong person. I meant to quote the guy saying Kenny and AC are the sports biggest waste of money. AC yes, Kenny not so much.

Kenny isn't a business man, despite the flashy suits.

Pretty sure Stephen A Stephen also has larger fish to fry

HRC is the only team Kenny didn't win a championship for in his whole career. He even won with RCH, a satellite team that only existed for like 4 years. HRC has an abominable 450 record. They were lucky to get Ken in the first place. He's almost killed himself trying to get them up to par.

I said "right now" not ever. He can't finish series and performs sub par to what his mouth says. I like him don't get me wrong, but he's not a title contender at this point in his career. Being tough doesn't exactly equate to dollars though and he's a badass in that dept. Not many could come back from what he has, I'm just saying I don't see him as a title contender indoors or out right now.

An elite level rider who's been beaten by Cianciarulo in 22. And by Tomac, Sexton, Anderson, Barcia, Plessinger, Ferrandis, Musquin, Webb, Stewart, Wilson, Savatgy, McElrath, Anstie, Hartranft, Brayton, Friese, Chisholm, Martin, Moranz, Dungey, Craig, Noren, Marchbanks, Robin, Bloss, Harlan or Weltin, to name a few.

i don't believe Yarrives team is an official HRC supported team,

also, no official press releases have come out saying that the team is getting more help from Honda Australia for the WSX, people are just assuming him and CDR are getting support from there aussie distributors, but i have heard from good sources that they are not,
