On a sidenote, I thought that was one of the coolest looking years for full size Chevy p.u.'s

Pretty sure it was just a FOX concept truck. They did little things like cut outs in the tailgate for the rear wheels so you could close the tailgate, storage areas and stuff like that.

Didn't the loading ramp fit flush in the bed floor? The tailgate recesses still linger in the back of my head but my F250 tailgate shuts 9 out of ten times with a bike loaded straight in.

I was impressed with the Troy Lee Mazda truck with the built in pressure washer that was making the rounds at the car show as a concept. Almost as cool...or even cooler was that they actually produced the damn thing for public consumption. Minus the pressure washer of course.

I was only about 15 when this was released. I remember (and have pictures) of the truck at Unadilla. It was very cool, yes the windows are tinted orange, which was really cool and different. It had a sick trim package. I was just curious about more info on the truck myself, so I posted it haha.

Is it really in that guys collection Aron? Any more details ?

Loading a bike into that tail gate would be a nightmare.

I almost want a truck with airbags so it's easier to load.

If I remember correctly, when the tailgate was removed you slid the ramps out from under bed storage. I have pics somewhere.
EDIT - The tailgate dropped down.

A fella I used to ride with back when I was a kid had a Cadillac customized to haul dirt bikes over the rear trunk.

I wish I had a photo of it. It was amazing...

Anyone have any idea how they modified the tailgate latch system to work once the cut outs were made? After seeing this I have been thinking of doing this to my Toyota since the current tailgate is starting to get a little rusty. I was thinking of just running a cable and pullies from the handle to the outer latches, is that how they did it with this truck? Obviously I will have to strengthen it a bit, but I think this would be a really cool mod to do. Plus if I really screw it up tailgates are cheap.Wink

I remember as a kid thinking this thing was the coolest thing ever, if you did the Chevy survey thing on this truck this is what they sent you;

As a kid receiving this was just as good, till this day I have yet to install any Fox or Racer X stickers to my truck.
