I’m 5’7 with kinda short legs 30 inseam. What would be the best brand to get without having to shave the seat foam? I heard the CR125, KX125 and the RM125 would problem be the best one to get for a shorter guy lol. But which one would other short people recommend.

I'm 5'-8" with 30" inseam. I haven't been able to touch the ground with both feet sitting on a bike since 1981. I think most have a 37- 38" seat height now. Vintage if you want low

Newer Husky’s have a pretty low seat height.

|

Unleaded tastes a little tangy. Supreme is kinda sour, and diesel tastes pretty good.

Yeah I’m probably going with 2000-2009 probably not going to make a difference lol.

You can get suspension lowering kits installed on just about any bike

Consider what you can still get parts for. Kawi, Suzuki and Honda have all discontinued manufacturing OEM parts for these bikes. Get a Yamaha, it’s future proof.

A TTR would be perfect.

A 2021 Husky or a yz from 2008+ would be my suggestion. The yz is fairly compact all around. The 2021 Husky is 10mm lower than the prior years abs other Austrian models.

Grandson's 5'-2" used the YamaLink to lower it...

Same height, same inseam...they’re all too tall till you modify something. I don’t like shaving the seat necessarily, but either put a link on or cut the subframe and you’re good to go. Or put a top out spacer in the shock so you’re not effecting the geometry of the bike

I use to cut the sub frames on my KTM's. It helped a little bit. But that was when the seats were 36" or so. I have tall friends, so jealous

Oh to be able to touch the ground and not bounce back and forth on my tip toes like I’m a 12 year old trying dad’s bike out grin

Same height and inseam here. 2021 Husky is by far the best option. I have one and it is a game changer for us short-leggers. I had a 2006 YZ125 prior. No comparison. The YZ is frickin tall ! I did have a second seat for the YZ that was nicely shaved down but I always used the stock seat as the shaved one makes the ergos too funky.

Sit on a 2021 Husky and see for yourself. Everyone who has sat on mine is blown away how much smaller it is, even compared to the same/equivalent KTM125.

I looked it up and it's a full 1.5 inches lower than a yz125. Kinda surprised me, might have to look at one of these in my future.

As mentioned, a lowering link would be of benefit. My son is on the shorter side ( 5’ 5” ). After installing a lowering link, he’s quite a bit more confident riding his bike.

5-7, 5-8 maybe on a good day. The short legs are the tough part though.

The numbers don't even tell the story. Sitting on the bike and riding it are eye opening. Being so low makes all the 2021 Huskies handle awesome and the light weight of the 125 makes it really great.

For those who don't want to drop the cash for a 2021 Husky, can't find one, or already have a 2016-2021 Husky, Gas Gas, or KTM, the short suspension would be pretty easy to duplicate. You'd need the 2021 Husky linkage and the thicker bump stop end cap for the shock and then you'd install 10mm spacers in the forks. Granted, you're not exactly duplicating the shorter tubes of the 2021 Husky forks but the effect would be close enough. As another option, I'd bet there are some guys out there with the 2021 Husky that wouldn't mind trading for the full length suspension.

I'd say my wife is around 5'5 and I had the suspension on her 2020 yz125 lowered 50mm and she can touch tip toes on both sides on flat ground. The tuner also softened the valving front and rear cos she's pretty light. It turns incredible too. We looked at ktm's but they seem to have a wider seat than the yz.
I've ridden her bike, I'm 5'11 and 185lbs and love riding her bike

Is the 940mm seat height on TC's vs the TE's and KTMs what everybody's talking about?

I know that Husky's are preferred by shorter riders and I feel like I can see it just by looking at their profile. But every time I look into it I just find like a cm difference, doesn't seem like much. Is there something more about the ergonomics that is better for shorter riders, and is it true on the TE models too?

|

Cut an inch and a half (at its lowest point, tapering out so it doesn't look stupid) out of my girlfriends' seat foam on her KTM. No messing with suspension geometry etc, super simple and effective and doesn't look lame if you put some effort in and take your time, she's 5'7 and only sits for corners so all good with the missing foam.

I know the newest Husky's have been lowered a touch but my '19 with sag at 105 feels as tall as any other modern bike I've tried, maybe that's just me.

Here's my anecdotal take on it. I have a 2020 FC350 which is the "normal" suspension. Even that bike compared to the corresponding KTM's "feels" a hair smaller. I believe the different tank, subframe, body, and seat make a small overall difference. The bike just feels a bit smaller and more compact, regardless of what any number specs say.

Now take that and add the short 2021 suspension and you get a very noticeable difference. The 2021 suspension is 10mm lower front and back which creates a 25mm lower seat height. I've had multiple people try my 2021 Husky 125 and everyone is pretty shocked how small it is, including guys trying it back to back with KTM 125/150. A few guys said "it feels like riding a mini bike". And I'm not running a crazy amount of sag or they weren't a lot heavier than me. I weigh 180 and have a stiffer 42N/mm spring on it from a 250/350F.

I don't know about the FE's. I think I saw somewhere that the off road models still have the normal length suspension.

I have the ‘07 RM125. It’s seat height is lower than most of the newer bikes...especially when seated. This is with the suspension set up pretty firm and with a std seat.

2003-2005 KX125 feels like a KX100 to me. I'm 6'1" and the cockpit is noticeably smaller than every other bike i've ridden. Super fun bike to ride, and rips for a 125.

You are plenty tall for all of them. My Daughter is 5' we do shorten her suspension but only 1" on both ends.
