Funny thing, damn near forty years later and they are still complete and holding together. Anyone got a set of Tech 8's that haven't crumbled to bits within five years??Laughing

I liked the ones I rode with back in 1980! I was recovering from a dislocated ankle and they allowed me to ride. Leather boots wouldn't... They didn't have feel but you learned to work with them....

Not Tech 8's, but this is the bottom of Tech 10's that lasted not long at all. This is also the reason I have Gaerne's now.

My tech 8's have been going strong for about ten years now. Sure I've replaces damn near everything on them, but...oh, never mind. Carry on.

The reason why your "old" tech 8's are holding up like that , is because they were made in Italy. The last 5yrs or so.....Alpinestars boots are made in China....and you would be lucky to get 6mo out of them. The Sidi's , Gaerne's and TCX are all still made in Italy.

If they are made in china and they're charging 600$ a pair, then someone is getting rich over at alpinestars.

Yep. Look at all the new Alpinestar boots ( MX ones anyways....not sure about on-road stuff )..no more little Itally tag on them any more. All China man........which completely sucks.

Hey there's some smoke coming out of that guy's exhaust. Are the valve seals worn out?

I never had a pair of the scott boots, but I did have a set of MXL plastic boots that I really liked.

The uppers were a lot more flexible and they didn't have a floating hinge, but I really liked the feel.

Unfortunately, once the liner goes, you are SOL.....

I had a pair of those bad boys. As soon as I took them out of the box I went to work with a hacksaw to trim that upper guard off (to make them look like the pair to the right). I liked them more when I was riding Yamaha's than Suzuki's. With the huge bulges from the shocks, I had a hard time gripping the bike when I had my weight back. Seemed like my feet were being pried off the pegs. Wearing them the first few times was always an adventure. Hard to get used to shifting when you really couldn't feel the shifter. Overall, I thought they were pretty decent. I sold them after a couple of seasons to a friend who wore them well into the 80's. As far as I know, he still has them.

I've had 3-4 pairs of Tech 8s and they have all lasted longer than my impulse to buy a new shiny pair. I've still got them all and they're all in working condition. I'm going to check my newest pair (bought in 2010 I think) to see if I got the Chinese version.

I checked my newest pair of Tech 8s and they were made in Croatia or something like that. WTH?
