So at this point between motos, do you put a set of spring forks on (if that's an option) to appease Roczen and try to get some of that bad mojo out of his head?

If they don't have a spring set up they'll likely fix the fork seal for moto 2 and start testing the springers on Monday.

Isn't it about time they just give up on the whole concept? There is a reason why almost every other form of motor racing uses coil spring suspension. IT WORKS.

No, it is a "bad look" for the KYB factory not Suzuki, Suzuki do not make the forks, and the forks are factory forks not ones you buy off the showroom floor

The average fan doesn't know that, all they see is the #94 going backwards. I feel bad for Kenny, he was killing it.

Mean time between failures...
The service life of fork springs seems to be a little longer than fork seals. You don't even need an air-fork to figure that out.

No way this is the end of air-forks, they weigh less, they cost less and most people can't feel the difference.

Let's just hope one of the 27 different electrical components on these fuel injected masterpieces doesn't fail and ruin Kenny's second moto. That was a familiar storyline for more than one team last year.

Exactly. Like dungeys fuel issue in 2011.

All fans see is a dnf from a Suzuki.

In a distantly related question. Is motorcycle racing the only vehicle form that uses linkage systems?

Nope most of the Formula cars use Linkage suspension systems. Also a lot of them use Torsion Spring over a coil spring setup. Unfortunately modern telescoping forks cannot use Torsion springs.

i have seen Broken fork springs inside of a yz250 fork. have seen a shock had its piston blow out the bottom.

Failures can happen on sping forks too

The failure in the first moto was due to an aftermarket fitting the team added to the fork. According to the team, there were no issues with the fork itself. The fitting caused the issue.

I've seen plenty of pneumatic tires cause a DNF also. Better change them out while your there and get some of those good old solid versions that are more reliable. don't get me started on coolant leaks either

Don't forget spokes. Langston lost a championship because of spokes...

I hate air forks but in the interview with Georgia the team manager made it sound like they forgot a $7 part. Not that a part failed or it was a fitting issue. Can't knock air forks because suspension guy made a mistake.

This and Honda going back to spring in production, yeah, put a fork in them I'd say, at least in my garage.

I'm surprised the team manager didn't blame it on the forks they are having trouble pushing on to customers....
