14th in heat 1, then a DNS for the LCQ on Saturday. What's the scoop?

He is done. Has been for a couple years. Reality just hasn’t sunk in yet.

I was surprised he came back after the canard thing. He sounded done then.

A racer is not done until he says he is or can no longer qualify. Jake is neither. I just assumed he came back a bit early or retweaked something.

Once you quit at that level - you can only race at LL in the 30A class and get crap for it. I wouldn't quit until I was sick of racing - unfortunately, at 56 I'm still not over it (as I sit here with a freshly broken hand).

At one point for everybody, the thrill of racing motorcycles won't be worth sitting on the couch injured - that point is different for everybody.

After what he has been through I will not blame Jake one bit when he parks his bike, but until then.......
,,,,RESPECT!

Jake is one of those guys I just want to cheer for, because he is openly honest about his situation at all times and that is so very rare in this sport. Plus with all of his injuries, I just want to see him have some success. I hope he can get healthy and that maybe Motoconcepts gives him a lifeline for 2019. I still think he can pull top-10 results when everything is good.

Like Matthes told him a couple months ago. "DON'T GIVE UP".

I have always really like Jake he wears his heart on his sleeve.

But from the outside he seems like a real head case that can let his own negativity eat at his performance.
I remember the days of when he was RV's team mate some of his comments were like a guy just accepting defeat before it even happened.

I mean clearly the guy can ride well you don't win a 250 title without breaking necks and cashing cheques.

Because he doesn't race a Kawasaki anymore? Smile

The guy is coming back from some very serious injuries....

He finished 10 in points in 2016 and 14th in 2017. Made every single main for two straight years.
So you say everyone outside the top 14 is DONE?

Enough internet for today... Blink

I didn’t mean it in a bad way. Just going by what he said back in 2014 in the “Behind the Dream” episode. I like Jake. He just hasn’t had good luck. That’s all.

It’s not disrespectful to assume that he’d be fine with not having a ride next year. It seems that as long as he’s pulling in some interest he’ll ride SX but if the time comes where he’s not on “the list” that all the teams pick from, he’ll walk away with his head up.

So nothing on what the deal is? Did the hand not hold up to Heat 1?

I like Jake too, and agree that sometimes he's sounded like a head case with the negativity. At times he's showed real speed and style. I'd like to see him get it firing on all cylinders to see what he can do.

The best Comebakc Kid ever to race him and Mike Alessi. He gcame back after bad injuries and they could have been career ending to many

It seems like he hasn't had confidence and aggression since his early 450 kawi days. Too many injuries and poor results have beaten him down.
