His yamaha contract ends this year. Whether he stays or goes I would imagine he is looking at a huge pay cut. I don't think we've seen anywhere near his full potential on the 450 but he may not be the next Villopoto either (which is okay).
The thing I've always wondered about with him aupposedly going to KTM is how Marvin would feel about that. I suppose he doesn't get to make the call, but I would think that based on their history it would have to piss him off.
I doubt you'll see any pro riders on a 350 again . Plus Barcia is doing great on a 450.
I think you're right, but I will give the 350 credit where it's due. Multiple engine builders have gotten well over 60hp out of the 350 with just cams, porting, ecu mapping, and good fuel. So while I don't believe we'll ever see anyone on one again at factory KTM, they're plenty capable of still ripping a start and podiums with a guy like Barcia on it outdoors.
Me and my girlfriend are huge fans of Cooper, I told her before sx this year I wouldn't expect to see Cooper on yamaha next year.
If he did good someone would get him, if he did bad/average yamaha would dump him.
He did decent is sx, didn't blow anyone away but wasn't what I would call struggling. Hopefully he comes back strong for outdoors. But I agree I think No matter the results it's time to part with yamaha.
I hear him and Decoster might not get along very well.
The word was Decoster wanted him when he moved up to the 450s but KTM couldn't match the deal Yamaha gave him. Plus, Decoster picked him twice fo MXDN so....
as much as i hate to say it.. i think cooper webb would suit the KTM. but id honestly like to see him on Honda. maybe even a new team mate with Brayton could be on the cards. allow him to fly under the radar and focus on getting back his speed and fitness.

Webb being teammates with Brayton would be an extreme long shot. MCR is Supercross only, and Webb hasn't had enough of a career to go that route.
HIll / Webb and JGR Suzuki's 450 effort would be something to see. Could easily see Webb loving the Suzuki and Hill's already proven he's ready. Podium and winning threats every weekend.
Remember how much crap Webb gave Musquin in the 2015 outdoor title fight? He missed a couple rounds but was riding to steal points for Jmart, and he was crap talking Musquin all the time, and riding him very aggressively. I highly doubt Marvin is a fan. I think the senior partners at Baker's have some veto power, so if Webb did go to KTM it would be very unlikely he ends up at Baker's. And that in itself might be enough to keep him off a KTM. I could honestly see Deano back as the #2 at KTM, it keeps him in the "family" and even though he had bad luck there in 2015/16 I think Decoster sees his work ethic.
Webb should, IMO, stay at Yamaha for another year. He hasn't really given the new bike much of a go, he came in hurt to SX, barely got healthy, then got hurt again. Going to a new bike isn't going to make things better automatically, and if he can just get the bike and himself right for 2019 he could finally have a solid 450 season. New team, new bike, new trainer....I'm not so sure.
Will JGR have 3 bikes in 450 next year? Peick and Hill seem done deals, so does Bogle stay?
If blue was the case you'd think they would advertise the new contract.
If Orange or any other color was the choice his current employer could issue a gag order.
Big trouble if you say or imply something before x date.
The people that would issue said gag order kind of pay for the SX series.
Who wants to be banned from SX races? Quiet please.
The blue bike doesn't seem like a good fit, hope he makes the red deal and the internet can have a meltdown.
Id like to see Webb go to KTM, i think he'd do really well on that bike. He just isn't gelling with the Yamaha and no need to waste anymore time on it. Another sub-par year on that bike and it can be really bad for his career. Id like to see him get a fresh start with a 2 year deal at KTM and see what he can do.

Actually there is a clause in Webb's contract that prevents him from making a deal with another team until July 1. This was discussed by Weigandt and Matthes on some podcast recently. Still, this does not mean that KTM has not been in touch. Heck, he could even have made a trip to Florida to see how the orange crop is this year. But it does give Yamaha some extra time to try to extend with him, if they so want to.
The one theory floated above about him riding for RMATV/MC is fairly viable. Benny Bloss could slide over to #2 at RedBull/KTM to make way for this. This would probably require KTM to pay the salary for Webb and Bloss however.
I'm stamping Barcia and Wilson on team Yamaha next year. Looks like AP23 will be defending the # 1 plates in 2019.
Back in 2010 and 2011 East Coast 250SX who could have ever thought these two could end up teammates? Time and money could make for strange stablemates.
