What a great read .. so much behind the scenes going on the last few years. If any one can get a win back for the USA at desnations it’s him. Here’s a quote from the article talking about his battle with Herlings
“I knew if I could get him off his mental game that I could beat him in the second race. So, on the line I looked over and said, “I hope you’re ready for this 30-plus-two because it’s going to be a battle.” I saw it in his face, he just couldn’t believe it (laughs). I knew then and there that I had flustered him.

Going to be awesome watching this kids career Over the next few years

He’s a cocky little shit who can fly on a motorbike.

Reminds me of hockey, some people get under your skin.

Doing something right bank account wise. Marv is riding like a virtual MX clinic but doesn’t have enough playing rough experience. Webb will play anytime, anywhere.

CW is a bad dude. I think he will be a force from now on for many years.

Webb followed it up with this: I truly believe he is the best guy in the world on a motocross track right now.

Webb is good for the sport right now. He's the complete package at the moment and it's why he's winning.

Great interview. That Yamaha 450 factory bike really is a turd and that ktm really is the cream of the crop as well as that whole program and team at ktm. Amazing how much better the riders are on that ktm 450 and team.

THANKS for posting.

it's funny i just read this same thing from roczen on the old suzuki when he was struggling (cept not the next MY tho):

""I went out there on a stock bike at the end of the day at Glen Helen and was going two seconds a lap faster than I could on my factory bike. On a bone-stock 2018 bike!"

If the KTM is the cream of the crop, why it getting whipped in the 250?

Yeh makes me wonder whether some times they mess around with the factory bikes too much

Great interview. He may be cocky but he shows a lot of respect here. The way he talks about Herlings, the man, Marv, even the Yamaha team and how hard they tried to make him comfortable on the bike.

The KTM 250 has won 10 out of the last 11 mx2 championships.

He's a winner, that's why sometimes he sounds cocky. But you're right. He shows a lot of respect to his competitors, former team and everyone around.

Because ac,forkner and Fernando’s are way above their competition in skill.

Respectively disagree. I hope everyone makes the effort to read the whole article, then base it off what I quoted .. I picked a quote because I loved how he wasn’t scared to put it out there to Herlings, particularly because Herlings just beat him in the previous moto !
It took a huge set of balls to do that. . I actually think there’s quite a few similarities beteeen the two with there attitudes.
The whole article is a great insite into his last few years ...

Some athletes like the Dunge are quietly confident others like him, Reed and many others, put it out there rather then bottle it up.
Great to have some different personalities in the sport.

Not sure if the 2019 YZ is a turd, but I did ride a 17 with mods that I thought sucked. Heavy, wide, & didn't want to turn.

I rode a factory edition Husky a few weeks back and can understand why they (KTM) can finish 1-2-3. That bike is amazing and I couldn't imagine anything being better. I'm definitely upgrading to a new KTM or Husky soon.

Wow, that was great! I'm an even bigger fan of Webb now after reading that. I didn't know all the details of his struggles in 17 and 18.

Great article. Is it crazy that my 5yr old counts the times webb says "and um" in his podium interviews? It's become a Saturday evening tradition.

To an extent it also makes me wonder if some teams actually don't do their best effort because of budget issues, to avoid paying podium big bonuses.

Could you imagine barcia or plessinger on that ktm and team. They would be riding so much better.

Now the 250 that is up for debate. The Yamaha does very well as a 250 bike.

I truly believe that bike is better than the rest but also the program and overall team just builds your confidence and ability.

The work decoster has done on that bike over the years and ktm listening to him has made so much difference.

One thing I have away noticed about the ktm is how narrow and small the bike looks. Dungey looked like he was riding an 80 that’s how small and centered the bike was. All that power in a small light size. No wonder top riders are winning on that machine.

That was an awesome interview. Gave us a lot of insight into the industry and what the riders go through. Loved it.

The comments I read/hear about Webb's attitude remind me of the reputation of RC, JS, CR and TC. They were hated for their attitude early in their careers and went on to become respected champions. We will eventually get there with Herlings and Webb.

From the moment he got his helmet on he's probably a cocky dude. But I interviewed him for twenty minutes at Paris SX when it was back in Lille. He just got a big crash, so I would understand if he acted out. But instead he was very friendly and down to earth.

The day I quite I will put all riders in a list from very friendly to bloody irritating and Cooper is at the top of the list, very friendly. Same with the Craig family, Ryan Villopoto, Nico Aubin, Chris Pourcel,...
