Yeah that was unexpected !!! Hard to see his reasoning behind that without knowing the full story I guess. I am sure he has a valid reason, he seems pretty damn stubborn and determined.

Webb is well established in his routine and diet, so by leaving he can bank Aldon's fees. I'm just speculating and with him entering the later part of his career he knows enough on how to get the job done without having the extra obligations.

Good point.

I noticed his social media presence as stepped up. Plus he’s got some team fried videos. I wonder if changing managers, leaving Baker is all about building a brand ?

I bet it's all about $$$.

Doesn't take a genius to see we are in for some rough economic times ahead, last time that happened racers took a big pay cut.

Smart move to bank a little extra cash before that hits.

Just a guess of course...

Will AP be training at The Bakers Factory? Him and Webb are pretty good buddies.

Side note, how long until a top rider starts their own facility where the trainers and dieticians are employees?

This is great news for Webb fans. If he stayed there we may have gotten 2 more years out of him before he was fried. Let’s hope for a long career

Noticing a trend here. If the news is true and Webb continues his winning ways in 2022, I would venture to say that the days of “Aldon Baker” training and these guys being part time cyclists might be over. Hope so....longer careers, no burn out, etc

Avoiding burnout. It’s not uncommon for riders to change up trainers and facilities.

Any clue what Aldon charges to train someone like Webb on a yearly basis?

I’m guessing, but I think I’ve heard it on a pod before... 100k?

Just as I was seeing Webb dominating the next 2-3 years, now I think he just shot himself in a foot which will level the field again. Ok, great, the next season will be as exciting to watch.

Baker dude is probably not cheap, and how much more can you teach someone to train. He probably has all the tools to do it on his own.

That doesn't sound like enough unless you have 20 guys training there. The overhead must be pretty low. Even at 2 Mil a year total your not pocketing much $$$
