I think a majority of the motocross budget will go to L&M (via Stewart). JGR is becoming increasingly independent of the manufacturer (they could damn near create their own bike if they wanted to). I don't think the "other satellite teams will soon be announced to further compliment and strengthen Yamaha’s off-road racing efforts" will bring any surprises, and I am sure JGR will (hopefully) stay blue for a long time to come. Go JG! (meaning both Joe Gibbs and Josh Grant!)

Not the beginning of the negativity and cynicism. I'm starting to wonder if some of you guys actually like motocross.

So what I am reading from this press release is that Yamaha will put support to L&M for MOTOCROSS and Supercross? So does this mean they are going to do the outdoors now?

My guess is JGR will be staying Yamaha as long as they race with the Toyota brand.
I think there is a connection between the two companies, that makes a difference to JGR.

Apart from the Euro brands, the full Japanese factory teams were gone from Europe long time ago, still, Yamaha is world champ in MX1, Suzuki claimed a title int he past years too.
They know they don't need full factory teams to go racing.

People people people......
Gee f-n wiz................
wake up & smell the coffee!
No it's not the end of anything!
Gimme a break!
Look times are a changing.
So is our sport........
It's changed earlier in Europe already, & who's complaining.........!
It's also been this way in international roadracing for years now too.
The factories aren't leaving, they're just re-structuring the love & support
no more no less.
Blue has an announcement coming later as to who's what etc..........
They mentioned L&M 1st & only cause commonsense again, they're the main player,
as in Championship team & all..................
The blame game is showing ones ignorance to it all really.
Whether or not a program goes full circle or not, SX then MX, is up to them
& their plan & budget!
Can you all say & spell "budget"?
Do you know what it means?
Many times I think not.
I believe in the near future more factories will follow Blues lead here.
So again, so ones left the building, they're just in a different place.
& "Guy B's" correct in saying to stop the lynching.
It's not like they're going away completely.
Next yr. they'll be more Blue than you know!

I guess I'd like to hear it from them. That statement seems a bit ambiguous given that they could have clearly said L&M is expanding to do the outdoors. It would make sense (shoot, it made sense last year) for Yamaha to front the support and money to L&M to do both rather than run there own team.

That's why I called and asked. L&M is set up like they were for last year...SX-only.

Just like every other independant team over the years.

MDK, BooKoo, Chaparral Yamaha, YOT, The list goes on.

The old saying, want to make a million Dollars racing, start with 2 million.

There has always been a mystique to being a true factory rider, now those days are coming to an end as well.

What's your problem? What did I say that was negative and cynic?

Should I be dancing around a fucking fire singing and dancing with no forward thinking...or should we all see the writing on the wall? You'd have to be a fool to believe that the factories will continue to shell out copious amounts of money towards these SX only teams. I honestly can't blame them. Would I like each factory to spend $100,000,000 in MX/SX, yes, but you have to be realistic.

Can somebody like motocross and not like all the bullshit and over spending that goes into professional MX and SX? What's wrong with that? What's wrong with wanting our sport to go back to where it was many years ago? I'd be happy if there were LESS "fans"....

What's negative about factory teams being no more?

You don't want more teams like JGR and such?

I meant it more as a commentary on the general tone around here lately.

"Which manufacturer will be the first to stop making MX bikes?", all the pissing and moaning about two-stroke vs. four-strokes, everyone piling on thread about the dad injured while riding, etc.

There are some things that could be improved (including the economy, which continues to make happy people grumpy, and grumpier people borderline unreadable), but I'd generally rather spend more time looking at the stuff that drew us together here in the first place.

C'mon, race season.

Oh, and actually it looks like there might be several new teams for next year. I wouldn't say that any of them are operating at the level of a JGR (very few do), but it's not all bad heading into 2010.

It looks like a positive to me. JGR, L&M both are the way of the future. TLD will become an even bigger player and so on. Outside sponsors footing the bill is better for how things are evolving. Change is a bitch isn't it .......... .

P O S I T I V E M O V E !!!

Satellite teams can:

Bring in outside sponsors

Achieve strength / power through results - be sought after by other manufacturers.

Provide a smaller management team where the owner / decision maker is on the ground with the team.

And lots of other things that I do not have time to think of right now ...
