Weird angle of the track. Just above the white SUV with a trailer is a single tree.

Is that hump just to the left of the mid-point of the single tree the finish line / end of whoops?

I was there two weeks ago that the otmx race? That was a weekend of highs and lows for me. Some dbag broke out my friends rear passenger window on his truck and stole only my gearbag at 4am Sunday morning. Thankfully we left the bikes and such at the track with a friend.

I was going to say the same thing.. Back when the Chuck Sun jump was actually a jump. It started getting more and more weird as soon as they started adding sections above horsepower hill.

I loved when instead of hanging left after HH, you kept going to the upper hill, then went left.

Agree about the new sections with the road jump and such, and definitely miss the Chuck Sun jump.

I really really wish they would redo the section after you come back over the road jump. That dumbass little right/left joggle sucks ballz and I'm not a fan of the big dip turn either. They both became very one lined.

It be a lot better if it was at minimum like a table or a step down. Make my day if they made it a cool double/double rhythm. Nothing too crazy but something a lot more fun than it is now.

Haha. That very extra hill section you mentioned, the left hander at the very top, it always had a really loose talcum powder at the edge or the track, and is pretty high speed corner. I hit the cushion a little harder than I should have once, sucked me in, sent me flying over the bars and really f^cked my shoulder up. I have been bitter ever since Laughing

I do like the extra sections they added in the woods, some of the floaters are pretty fun (and safe for us old guys). It has always been one of my favorite tracks (next to Horn Rapids, I like the sand).

My first time was on my 500. They ran the track backwards

Stayed in Vancouver it was by the mall 20 years now never had a problem. Some what my fault letting my gaurd down. Just glad they stole my bag. It was well used as was most of my gear. Cept for my helmet. If they would have grabbed my friends stuff would of gotten a 2 week old 6d helmet.

Yeah, Old Timers' races are always the best way to experience Washougal, even if the track configuration might have changed more than most of us might like. And they always had great posters at the Nat'l:

what is the chuck sun jump? Like any photos of it?
7/30/2020 1:32pm
Just Google search it you might find something. Basically how the track is now you turn well before it. After the S turn drops down the hill there's the table and now the turn. Which is called the pitcher's mit.

Before the change it was s turn drop down the small hill about where the table is now was a double jump and then the chuck sun jump. Which was a table with a steep short face and a long gradual down hill landing. Into a big wide berm corner called the catcher's mit.

Then it gradually went back up hill semi close to the scoring tower. And there was 5 roller style jumps and right after that was lurches leap. Which was this steep ant hill style single that was a blast to scrub off of. And that became where the triple is now was a rhythm section of 6 jumps aka 6 pack that was called the hillsboro hoops.

Which then was followed up by a stup double semi triple where the big sand ant hill and sand section is now. Compared to what it is now i much prefer the old layout it was a lot more fun.

It was fun watching the pro's pull sick whips over the chuck sun. I heard it went away because the dbag who owns moto tee's hated parking his big semi by the side of the track and wanted a better infield. Which lasted a whole one time before they moved back to their original spot. I have hated moto tee's ever since. I also heard part of it was they wanted better access for the side x side. And since the track was kinda of close together in those spots and packed with fans was also part of it.

If you haven’t listened to the recent Matthes pod with Ryan Huffman it’s worth a download. Talks a bunch about growing up there and his families involvement. The Chuck Sun jump comes up if I remember correctly. One of those episodes I wasn’t dead sold it would be super interesting but was way wrong.

I saw LaRocco get all fucked up in th Hillsboro Hoops, and just muscled his way through. These things were like 30' apart. He treated them as whoops.
