Went riding on Sunday and was supposed to pick up a new 18 TM 300MX smoker on the way home. I went for one last lap and things went a bit sideways..
I was having fun on the 100’ tabletop -step-down and something went wrong on the landing, best I can piece together is my left hand blew off the bars and I went down hard instantly on my left side. I remember going down, and then waking up from a nice peaceful dream, feeling went from great to pretty damn bad in an awful hurry.
Long story short I’ve been in the hospital ever since, transferred twice and awaiting a surgery on my humerus, which is broken in about 6 or 7 pieces at the top where it goes into the shoulder socket and just below.
Total tally is:
Broken sternum
5 broken ribs
Broken C7 vertebrae
Broken humerus
Punctured lung
Concussion
It’s actually my first surgery ever, anyone had one like this before that they can share their experience with? I’m self employed so this isn’t looking good in regards to down time from work.

Otherwise from the surgical standpoint just try to comply with the plan of care being set for you. Early mobility, pain control etc....good luck man. Don’t consult doctor google. It will make you insane.
Every time I say "one more lap", I go down hard. I started saying "two more" and then quitting before the second lap. So far it has worked out for my body.
Good luck.
The Shop
We've all been there, it sucks. The ribs though, I've broken mine several times. Those are the gift that keep on giving... hehehehe. Best of luck with your recovery, you'll be down at the dealer cutting a check on a new bike before you know it.
What gear did you have on? Chest pro or neck brace?
One thing I would be super wary of from the outset, is an over-reliance on pain medication. Take as little as you can handle as the risk of opiod addiction is very real - I hate those things. I was amazed at what my wife was given following surgery in New York last year, and threw them out as soon as she didn't need them anymore (about 10 days after surgery).
Pit Row
Scooter, fuck ya.
Now the only thing missing is the troll to come in this thread and spew out some more shit about paid posters.
Hope you recover well and don't lose the farm over medical costs
(unfortunately you're still going to be speaking with your wallet ) Heal fast and thorough
Seriously though I hope it works out smoothly mate.
I had my first surgery ever last year and actually enjoyed it. Best sleepover. Lights out and then lights on.
Heal up man, gotta give you an A+ for the crash commitment...Sounds like you took a good one.
